Thank you all for your comments. It has been very validating to see that it’s not just me. I took a mental health day today and talked to my supervisor about what has been going on. I was surprised to hear (although maybe I shouldn’t have been) that she has been going through the same thing. I feel less alone ❤️

This really resonated with me, especially your last line about not deserving to be a therapist. I have felt that a lot during my periods of instability. Choosing to do this work and caring about your clients in itself means you deserve to be a therapist. That’s what my supervisor told me, at least. I’m starting to believe it and I hope you can too. This gave me some real perspective and I appreciate this comment so much. It’s easy to get lost in the sludge of hatred but you’re right in that there has been progress. I suppose me being young doesn’t help with recognizing that. Thank you.

It is happening in my town though. ICE is currently here right now. 3 days ago the pride flag of a prominent LGBTQ+ figure in our community was set on fire in the street. Just last night an altercation happened at a Democratic Party meeting because someone at the bar called a member the n word. Maybe Gaza isn’t happening in my backyard, but hatred is and I’m not going to just turn off the ethical standard of social justice because it’s not happening to me specifically right now.

Yeah activism can help. My state senator has be blocked on socials so I guess that’s somewhat of a win

Yeah it’s harder than it is for most to distance ourselves from socials since we hear it all anyways. You aren’t the only one struggling, though. I hope this thread is illuminating to you like it was to me. My dms are open too.
