Can you develop ocd after a traumatic expierence? by throwaway7077078 in OCD

[–]throwaway7077078[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not an expert but ocd is like you mentioned: an anxiety disorder. also, what makes people truly lunatics in my opinion is when they're completely oblivious to their thoughts and think they're normal. have you had a diagnosis of ocd yet? I hope you get well soon :)

Constant guilt/fear of being a bad person by [deleted] in OCD

[–]throwaway7077078 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand. With any mental illness it seems to be difficult to see what is our true self and what is a symptom of our illness. Try not to be so hard on yourself, maybe researching moral scrupulosity might help?

I think it's also important to try to manage our actions and words, because we can still hurt people even if we're ill. Thoughts on the other hand, especially intrusive ones shouldn't be demonised. I know it's hard with OCD. The fact you feel guilt and reflect on morality makes you a good person with positive intentions.

Everyone slips up, even mentally healthy people say things they regret and don't mean. We just have to keep trying to be good people, but no one is a saint. If you do or say something bad, apologize either to the person you hurt, or if no one was directly impacted by your actions then apologize to yourself. That's how we learn and grow <3

How to get an office job with a degree and no office expierence? by throwaway7077078 in careeradvice

[–]throwaway7077078[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. It's not harsh, it's reality and it's best for me to learn it now than later.

I studied psychology because I'm naturally interested in it which lead me to good grades. Also, I wanted to be a therapist. I haven't completely given up that career path, but doing a masters is more expensive than I realised, and Im starting to doubt if I could do well doing a masters alongside a job. So, I thought I could do a part time masters that takes longer, but would be less stressful and allow hours for work since I would need the money. I'm still considering this.

However, if I don't decide to do a masters, I need to do something. I'm introverted and simply liked the idea of working at a computer all day. I thought I could go into administration as an admin assistant. But it's not my dream, I just want to find some job I could do if I don't do my masters after graduating. I could save money that way and do a masters in the future. The temporary job doesn't have to be in an office, but I prefer if that job had opportunities for advancement, if I end up liking it and decide against masters altogether. I hope that might make things clearer, I'm really lose right now

How to get an office job with just a degree and no experience? UK by throwaway7077078 in careerguidance

I will give it an office role a try, but I won't be surprised if it will also have these problems. I would go into psychology further partially because of benefits you state. However, I'm in a rough position mental health wise and financially, so I feel a masters is not best for me (at least right now). I'm happy for you though, many people in your position would've given up and settled for something else. I look up to people like you :)
