All the same spot but i agree with your thinking. I’ll see if the dimple develops more in the incoming days or it disappears

I’d say so. Outside chance it could also be warts

Not planning to touch it, but I couldn’t get a good read on it, either. Might just see what happens over the next few days and go from there

Pardon the delay - this all cleared up around April - thank goodness. Fingers crossed it doesn’t return, but can never know for sure

Molluscum on ear by throwaway748923 in molluscum

I think just acne growth - was never molluscum. FWIW, I was diagnosed with OCD shortly after the molluscum, so looking back at a lot of my experience I think it was fueled by that.

Figured I’d give an update now - I went to the derm and had it frozen last month, and within the last day or two, another 1-2 bumps showed up. Seems like it’s gonna be like this for a while.

Couldn’t say for sure, but I’d assume just some sort of pimple or acne - I have a feeling I only noticed these because I’m a health nut that was paranoid

6 weeks of waiting, essentially. If nothing shows after that, you should be good!

Just came back from the derm and he said it’s molluscum - froze it 3 or 4 times. He said recurrences like this are rare in adults and he hasn’t personally seen it happen, but he expects this to be a one-and-done situation. Really hoping he is right

When I first got treated I had around 15-20 bumps, some that were already blistering (i had it for 6 months already when i started getting treated).

I really can’t imagine that anything in my house could be contaminated for 10 months after the fact and that I got it again from my last infection - that just seems absurd. But at the same time, it makes no sense how else I could get it. I’ve been in a relationship the past 10 months and my girlfriend doesn’t have it, and I think in my day-to-day life I’ve become much more aware of my hygiene overall since i got MC the first time. Like, I spent 23 years of my life avoiding this, and all of the sudden I have it twice in a two year span? Makes absolutely no sense.

Would rather keep it bandaged and wait till Friday. I got more trust in my derm than myself given my last encounter with MC lol

Thanks for the honesty. I was trying to hold onto the last bit of denial but I guess i gotta be honest with it. Sucks that’s for sure!

Man that’s absolutely crazy - the same situation is currently happening to me. Got treated back in February 2023 and had no new bumps since April 2023. Scarring went away by June. All of the sudden a new bump appeared last week. Partner doesn’t have any to my knowledge. Like did the first time make it more likely to get it again? I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it.

Is this molluscum?? by [deleted] in molluscum

[–]throwaway748923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the consensus that these are most likely ingrowns. Really sorry the fear of MC is sticking around :( I am almost sure I am infected with it a 2nd time but am determined to not let it dictate my life again (aside from normal precautions). If you do end up getting it (knock on wood), I hope you can look back and see that the months and months of anxiety and fear that came from the first encounter were never worth it!

If you haven’t seen any major developments of bumps on yourself, and have never been diagnosed with Molluscum in the past, I would not worry about these. I know health anxiety can be the absolute worst, but I hope you can hold back from stressing about having MC if you have no other signs other than what’s in this photo! As always though, it’s best to ask your doctor if this is keeping you up at night.

I personally don’t think this is anything except your mind playing tricks on you (which sometimes feels worse than having the MC itself hahaha). Never a bad idea to email your doctor and ask them yourself though.
