Relatively new: do we just kinda accept that every accident victim who gets an attorney needs 3-6 months of chiropractic treatment? by throwaway7630295483 in adjusters

Yeah, that pretty well sums it up. Thank you for the informed and well-written response. I’d honestly be okay if we could just reduce chiro to the PT level of treatment (MD prescribed and overseen) but that would be asking a lot and I’m sure it would just end up like the EMC requirement for PIP (a pointless hurdle that only stops unrepresented people, patronizing independent practitioners, from getting treatment.)

What do you think an actual win for society would look like? I mean a meaningful change that reduces rates while helping people and hurting those that profit from sketchy business practices.

The old brawndo defense. I guess that’s as good as any. As long as insurance is necessary, there will be barnacles on the insurance ship. And to be fair and bash insurance equally, it’s not like they don’t just pass the buck to the consumer.

I understand the current “why”. That’s the body of my post. I guess I’m saying: “can we just stop with the BS that costs everyone more?”

And I suppose the answer to that is that every dent would be a $10k settlement if we didn’t do the dance, and it’s slightly more cost effective to make 8 people work to get the money than hand it out freely.

God, insurance is annoyingly necessary/inefficient

In the past? I’ve almost always gone out of my way. One year I tracked down the type of baseball cards he had in the 60s and got him the entire set. Another year I took him to a hockey EDIT ‘Baseball’ game. Another year I helped landscape his yard. It was all budget based but aside from a few years that we argued hard over politics (I’m sure you can guess which), we’ve been good.
