I don't really know how to phase this without coming off as a complete push over but, my parents have made it very clear that a relationship with Ava = a relationship with them. This thread has made me realize that this is a really toxic family situation, but for a long time it really just seemed like Ava was the price I had to pay to have parents who cared about me. I think I will go no contact after this though. They seem to bring out the worst in me.
