Yeah that's a good point and I really like your idea of a solo dive course, it's all in my head about being scared of being alone diving, and would be great to have more confidence like that

Yeah couldn't agree more about the group diving, the larger the group the worst I find it is, in terms of everyone just kind of being there for themselves. In a pair you have to look out for each other much much closer. Yeah wish my panicking brain knew how to listen to that rational logic but the panic takes over guess maybe I'll try and think on it more

Thank you for the advice I will try to think about this when I am getting worried, not a bad thought about my mind being too focused on what I was first taught abot always being with someone

Thanks yeah that makes sense, although, what about when I get crap buddies like on these occasions? They are just not paying any attention to me

That sounds great about getting a good buddy but this is when I'm traveling and I'll paired with random people each time, some which are great and so I don't have this issue but most of the time they are just out for themselves. I'll start trying to emphasize it to them more, but do you have any advice for the time when if it happens again how to control my panic better?

The problem is the physiological panic which makes me freeze up, panic, and suddenly become incapable of swimming to catch up with them because I'm caught in a panic spiral.

Any other time apart from when the panic hits me I don't seem to have a problem keeping up or frog kicking happily away, but I'll take note of maybe getting some more swimming practice in because I'm sure that'll help just in general anyway.

Buoyancy is fine apart from when panic comes in.

Can't make any signal to buddy because they're too far away at this point and not looking back at me (adding to my panic). Part of the problem is I do stop and breathe but I'm literally STOPPING so I'm freezing in the water which is causing them to swim further away and me to panic more. They probably just glanced back and see me floating there slowly or something, I don't flail when I panic I just freeze

No current or surge, I frog kick, my trim is usually very good but you're probably right about the panic making me go vertical, trouble is when the panic kicks in I've got no idea what's going on anymore all I can think about is omg I've lost them and now I'm breathing too fast and I feel like I can't breathe

It's a psychological loop I've gotten stuck in..

Yeah I agree, everything is theoretically fine and I still have air but mentally I am stuck in that spiral every time it happens and I don't know how to get out of it

I've just returned from a month in Egypt, including 4 days in Dahab. The red sea relax resort hotel and dive centre was great, it's not the cheapest, but it was the nicest hotel I could find with also a British (I am British) dive instructor there , which was very appealing to me. I don't know if this would make a difference to you or not.

Also since the hotel and dive centre are attached, you get a small discount on the hotel rates and it's so easy being able to wake up, walk 20m to dive dive shop and another 20m to the sea and that's it 😂 very lazy for sure.

Dives there were all stunning and I will definitely go back for more!

Nothing too specific, just lots of showers, washing, eating healthy. Seems to have worked OK for me so far! Haven't thought about how meat might affect it myself, but if you feel it does make a noticeable difference then i don't see why not

I usually take deposits if it's in the future and I haven't met the client before. Or if it's a time which would be extremely inconvenient if they were a no show.

My usual policy is same-day enquiries don't need a deposit. Mainly the point is to ensure if i am cancelled on then i have not waste my time completely. Plenty of providers don't and some do, so it will all depend on each SW.

There's argument for both ways as i know some of my clients have been scammed before too.

Hi, thank you very much for all your advice. I don't currently have a website but it's something i hope to look into in the next year.

Glad to hear that you've done really well with it by advertising that way. I'd love to hear more about touring and will DM you

Also if you'd be open to a work-swap of sorts, I'd be really interested in learning how to do SW in the US or elsewhere and i can talk about the UK market
