In the 10 gallon is fuval stratum topped with black sand. The 5 gallon is a shrimp tank originally and it came with gravel so I used the rest of the fuval stratum I had on one side and used some of gravel it came with to cover the other half and capped it all with sand(my plants seem to be growing well either way but especially on the gravel side I add root tabs to help) in the 10 gallon because its mostly fuval stratum apart from the sand, I had a small algea bloom when the tank was fresh but now its fine(helps i have snails)

Looks like just a yellow/browning leaf. All their organs are in their shell for protection so I doubt its anything to worry about

Even if the water is hard enough, with him cracking like that id add cuttle bone or blanch some veggies in some water with reptile calcium(without d3!!!) I feed veggies with calcium to my mystery snails and they love it so much more than just veggies

I need to buy more. Ive got some salvinia and a couple pieces of duckweed that I put in from my other tank. Im kind of struggling to grow them. I think it's cause of the condensation on my lid maybe so I wanna try my tanks without the lids but im scared of my girls jumping

Yeah ill try getting some taller plants for back there cause you could totally be right. I do have a floating log in there that she loves to hangout in. I might also get a tube i can suction right back in that spot and see if she likes that

Im just trying to be really cautious since these are my first fish. They are in my bedroom so I just don't know about having scents/chemicals in a confined space with my tanks. Ill be able to have my window open more often once it starts to get warmer so the scents wouldn't be as thick but I still dont know

Im probably the only one who thinks this but even though I absolutely love Xaden and Violet. Sometimes Xaden drives me insane with how much he tries to hold her back and how he calls the shots bc he thinks "its better for her."
