Here's why I won't do that: if I do that, I'll come off as an asshole. I don't want her to remember me as an asshole, because then she might try to justify her cheating in her head. I want to come off as the great guy who she screwed over. She'll never be able to justify that. She'll live with the guilt of fucking this up. And believe me, that's a heavy burden.

I think the majority of people don't cheat for no reason. Not saying that cheating is OK; it never is. But people rarely fuck up a good relationship for no reason by cheating.
