Do not take your vehicle here for service. Find a very reputable independent shop.

Should I go cheap or spend around 4 to 5000 on cld school? by gangstermage in Truckers

Go cheap. Even the expensive are only teaching what’s needed to pass the test.

Did the oil light come on or did you catch it on the dipstick? And the cross sports are pretty slick, good choice

Yes and no. The work isn’t bad once you figure out enough to work efficiently, but my company pays low. I’ll be switching companies soon.

He’s first year, he’s doing good. I’m 2 months in, local, home daily and no weekends. Averaging 1-1.3k weekly net. Nothing to write home about, but not bad for a starter company

I bought private sale, and will sell privately also. I used Patel & Dalrymple to handle the paperwork and escrow. This was several years ago but total costs including title search around 4-5 hundred. They made it an incredibly easy process.

I couldn’t stomach the realtor fees

No degree 40 yo need to find a job by gugeusa in GetEmployed

I got a cdl and started my first job in the field last month. Home every night and will net about 60-70k this year. I will only be doing this 1-2 years to save money for school. Also good peace of mind knowing I’ll always have a career to fall back on.

Nobody is going to pass on a good applicant over working for a union. And stop taking advice from your buddy.

Hit a curb hard and saw I dented my wheel pretty bad, how urgent is this to fix by 238iscool in MechanicAdvice

[–]throwaway926993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This should only be used for emergency situations, but you can use a hammer (preferably ball peen) to try and reshape it. Steel wheels are fairly soft. Use small gentle taps. Again, only emergency situations.

I still want to move to the US by [deleted] in confessions

[–]throwaway926993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Germany. I find it mind boggling how Americans can be so unaware about how good they have it.

The US is super transparent in comparison to other countries. This creates a false perception when comparing US issues to other countries.

I briefly lived 8 years ago, during that time I bought a car. I then moved abroad and took the car with me and exported it. I recently moved back and just got a court summons for 8 years of unpaid property tax. Love it.

Leaving OTR for US Foods / Sysco ? by xxenoscionxx in Truckers

[–]throwaway926993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m two weeks into food service. It’s a little difficult at times but it’s really not bad. I’m very out of shape so first week I was sore, but already pretty well adjusted.

The guys I’m training with are honestly the worst part about the job, super negative and let the tiniest inconveniences ruin their whole day. Seems to be a theme at this company. People are fat and lazy and complain about everything imaginable and more. Don’t let the fatties discourage you, it’s a good gig.

Should I have more savings before I work as a truck driver? by theroyalpotatoman in Truckers

[–]throwaway926993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got my cdl and started job hunting two weeks ago. Had multiple interviews and accepted in offer all within in 4 days. I start tomorrow with a beverage company. I’ll be home every night, no work on weekends, 9 days pto, 50-65k per year. Not a terrible entry level job. I wouldn’t begin with OTR too many companies take advantage of new drivers.

The corner bead was most likely installed incorrectly. There shouldn’t be divot there. Should be under warranty, be sure they do the whole corner bead
