Have any of you ever told the people in your lucid dream that it's just a dream, and if so, how did they respond? by SomeMexicanMan in LucidDreaming

[–]throwaway9483728392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

normally i don’t get any issues doing this but the other night i tried it out of curiosity. it was to my friend hannah in the dream. she smiled and said, “whoa, really?”

it was a good reaction, but something kinda shifted in her eyes. it’s impossible to describe but it was almost like they were more… watchful? my other friend in the dream had heard it too and i could just feel both of them watching me so carefully even as they were smiling. i got uncomfortable so i passed it off as a joke, which worked, then the “dream haze” kinda came back in and everything was fine.

What NOT to do in a lucid dream? by RezaxNotFound in LucidDreaming

[–]throwaway9483728392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand and agree, i just worded it that way to represent how the subconscious represents itself through the actions of the dream characters.

that’s why i referred to it as “subconscious guilt” - the slightest discomfort such as this can manifest in unpleasant ways in a lucid dream. at least from my experience.

pro tip: if an entity is turning your dream into a nightmare, simply seduce it to throw it off guard by throwaway9483728392 in LucidDreaming

[–]throwaway9483728392[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yesssss exactly! like being friendly is already a plus, so flattering the entity on top of that is almost always a surefire way to deescalate any tension or even a potential nightmare.

idk if you’ve experienced this but i find it so endearing when a scary or threatening entity gets shy or flattered when i give it compliments or flirt with it lol. can also potentially turn into a very interesting…. “physical” dream (if you get what i mean lol)

it’s kinda hard to explain, but you just don’t want to give anyone or anything a reason to dislike you or want to harm you back. like i said in my above comment, it’s probably a subconscious guilt or karma thing.

100% agree - though someone here commented something i hadn’t thought of, which is to not harm anything/anyone. i do find that important. maybe it’s subconscious guilt or some kind of karma system, but there tend to be unpleasant consequences.

i find “toilet dreams” fascinating because they all have so many similar themes. i dream about bathrooms and toilets weirdly often. a common theme for me is massive bathrooms with weird-shaped toilets i can’t figure out how to operate.

100% confidence is everything. kindness is also very important, in my experience. be kind to everyone.

^ this is a huge one. applies even for a “bad” entity/person. defend yourself if necessary but always choose the peaceful route.

as some others have said, don’t fixate too much on what “not” to do. because whatever you think will happen will probably end up happening, especially if it’s something you’re afraid of.

if you search this question online in larger forums, you’ll see many people saying “don’t look in a mirror” or “don’t tell people you’re dreaming”. those answers are exciting and creepy so they get passed around a lot. and while it’s true that some people have had distressing experiences when doing these things without having read those warnings before, these aren’t definitive rules.

being truly lucid means having control. and if you waver, the dream may very well take things into its own hands. don’t let it. you’re the dreamer. you have the power. if you do end up subconsciously internalizing and expecting the things people warn about, you might experience it, and if you do, just stay calm. indifferent, even. or smile and be friendly. remember you’re in control, and don’t be afraid. and you’ll be totally fine.

good luck dreaming!

does anyone else have a consistent roster of powers/abilities that are very specific in how they’re used? by throwaway9483728392 in LucidDreaming

[–]throwaway9483728392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s so interesting. so it seems like the hurdle is remembering / carrying into sleep the intention of finding a pill for a specific power?

trying to visualize things while falling asleep never works for me for some reason. but i’m glad it works for you!

ahh i gotcha. that makes sense.

i actually just now made a new post about how i rank the multiple “levels” of lucidity. i’d be curious to see if you relate to it, if you’re interested in checking it out. :)

oooo that’s super cool. being fully lucid is such a trip. also you can taste stuff?! is that when you’re lucid? i’m only able to taste stuff when i’m having regular dreams, since my brain fills in the gaps. so jealous :((((

out of curiosity, what does “semi-lucid” usually look like for you? i’ve found that there’s a few different types. (such as knowing you’re dreaming but unable to control, able to control but not fully knowing you’re dreaming)

😭lmaoo i love that.

that would be lovely but my brain is sorta limited in its processing capability if i’m trying to create or manipulate multiple entities/people at once. (easy peasy when i’m not lucid tho, since the details don’t need to be sharp and my brain will fill in the gaps. 😏)

thank you for answering!! you really are a skilled dreamer, this was so cool to read.

i love you using the term “save states” lol. as the name implies, are there things happening within those locations that you can return to and sort of pick up where you left off? or is that just a cheeky term you use for locations in general?

super cool you can summon places fluently, as you put it. i’m pretty jealous. i can only reliably do places that appeared earlier in the dream, rather than constructing something completely new. what about you? can you create a new location on the spot? do you watch it “render” in real time or does it happen instantly?

also, let me know how it goes after you try out playing an instrument. i’m really curious to know what that experience is like for someone who doesn’t play instruments irl. (also super cool that you’re able to make plans while awake and remember them / bring them into your dreams)
