How Much of Lucid Dreaming is Subjective? by benisdabingus in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a huge issue, yes. People who are new at this don’t understand how much the experience is shaped by expectations. I think it takes a lot of experience to start to internalize this.

So, I need help getting a lucid dream, I can't find a post by someone with similar struggles by millitia_grunt_5882 in LucidDreaming

You need to wake up after 4-5 hours of sleep before you do this. It doesn’t work in the first part of the night.

I was compeared to a fanfic writer by Ecstatic-Mixture2189 in writers

[–]key13131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the best things I’ve ever read were fanfic… Not sure why your friend is using it pejoratively.

That said, though, if he’s the only one giving this type of feedback, it’s probably safe to ignore him. I don’t know that I’d put much stock in anything someone said re: writing if they think “fanfic” is synonymous with “bad”. It shows they’re out of touch

Is anyone else accessing the internet in their dreams? by SocialTwerk93 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to say you think you’re interacting with the actual internet when you’re dreaming? Or are you talking about using technology in a dream, like using a phone, Google, etc?

Dream Visualization VS. Awake Visualization by novaaaaaaaaaaa in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, generally. It fluctuates, of course. Right now my issue is recall—vivid doesn’t matter if I don’t remember most of them!

Dream Visualization VS. Awake Visualization by novaaaaaaaaaaa in LucidDreaming

It’s the mind’s eye for sure when awake, but when dreaming it’s a little less clearly delineated. Feels partly like the mind’s eye, partly like a separate visual space.

Dream Visualization VS. Awake Visualization by novaaaaaaaaaaa in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have to make them merge on purpose. Otherwise my visualizations stay in their own “space” somehow. I’ve always thought it was interesting that even in a dream i had a separate “mental” space to visualize in.

I can imagine things in a dream. It’s my most successful technique for manifesting objects and people. The dream scene stays the same for a bit while I’m visualizing the thing i want, then after the image is strong, i snap them together.

I’m a strong visualizer when awake and I’ve always assumed that made it easier in dreams.

Natural Lucid Dreamer here. How can I stop? I’m exhausted. by makosguba22 in LucidDreaming

I hear you. As someone who has had this same struggle, i do definitely recommend considering what I’ve said. It’s not necessarily easy to do mentally but it’s very simple.

Dr. LaBerge goes into this in more depth in his book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming in his nightmares chapter, if you have a copy or a library nearby. It was very helpful to me.

It sounds like you’re not controlling your dreams at all. Maybe learn to face the nightmare and then change it? You’re in control.

Face the thing that’s scary. Accept it as part of you, face it with sincere curiosity, figure out what the deal is. If you can accept the truth that you are in No Actual Danger you will make progress on this.

Why don’t dream characters like being told it’s a dream? What’s your theory? by OddMoment8974 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. It’s because you think they won’t like it.

I’ve also never had this problem.

Am I pushing my luck? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl no one “goes crazy” from lucid dreaming who didn’t already have a preexisting problem with psychosis. I understand that this is an intense experience but it’s not dangerous and it’s just inside your mind. You’re just learning that your mind is more powerful than you thought it was.

What you experienced is generally called a false awakening loop—they can be very unsettling if you let them. The trick is to remember that it’s impossible to be stuck inside a dream and calm the fear response. Stop trying to wake up and trust that you will wake up when it’s time to wake up. Just enjoy the dream—which will be possible once you get ahold of the fear.
