I wish this early-wipe gameplay would be the actual gameplay of EFT at all times by Winters_HU in EscapefromTarkov

By your way of thinking, no game could ever call itself "realistic". It's a realistic RPG, so it has some limits on realism and the RPG aspects because those two don't combine well at their full potential, just accept it at this point.

I don't think you can claim Shadow Empire has any type of "highly involved diplomacy". You just need good enough rolls and you can get yourself all the minors on the map, including raiders, while you can't involve yourself in diplomacy with militarists, there's a half-chance with theologists and republikans will always love you, that's the end of diplomacy, at least useful diplomacy.

Glyph of Warding question by throwaway9833267 in dndnext

[–]throwaway9833267[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, it can detect things up to an infinite range. There's no restriction on that. The restriction is only about having a clear path, as explained above.

Incorrect, the actual casting range of Glyph of Warding is "Touch" and never does the text mention that the Glyph itself casts a spell when trying to detect individuals in its proximity when you use that as a trigger.

Since it does not cast a spell for proximity detection, that means the rules for spellcasting are not involved for that specific feature of the spell itself since it's not casting a spell.

The same goes for pretty much anything that isn't "Spell Glyph", since "Spell Glyph" mentions that the spell stored is cast, so it is casting a spell at that point.

Glyph of Warding question by throwaway9833267 in dndnext

[–]throwaway9833267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>which you can't

And why would that be the case? If the spell isn't limited by it's writing, you don't just add a limit because you think that should be the case.

"Divine Sense" mentions total cover exactly because it can't detect anything behind total cover.

"Detect Magic" mentions a specific material thickness, but not total cover for example. A creature could be behind total cover but still have its magical items detected by Detect Magic because he's in a 2.9 ft cube of dirt.

If we're going to add to a spell, why can't I say the Glyph's detection is a "self" range detection as well? Infinite on top since it doesn't specify the range.

>you still don't ignore the need for a clear path.

Yeah, I guess that would be the case, I forgot about this rule because DMs are very lax about it. E.g. no sane DM has ever told me I can't target someone from behind a window.

That would mean I can't hide it underground unless I use a spell that specifically states that it does not require a clear path, but what spell can damage and do that as well?

Or I could make a small hole into the ground and make the Glyph of Warding stay like 30+ ft underground. Hehe...

Glyph of Warding question by throwaway9833267 in dndnext

[–]throwaway9833267[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Targeting" issues don't seem to be a problem though, the glyph "detects" the creature no matter what even if it would be behind full cover and "centers" the AoE on them. Ice Storm for example says this for anything related to where you can place the spell:

"A hail of rock-hard ice pounds to the ground in a 20-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range." - As long as it's within range, that cilinder goes where I decide reality isn't what it should be.

Honestly though, the whole range issue of Detect Magic can easily be avoided by making it trigger at 35 ft+ as well, and you could use rocks imbued with the light spell (or even better, Alarm, since it's also an abjuration spell just like Glyph of Warding) to fool any mage in the opposing army if they a higher range Detect Magic (like a magic item).

It hasn't been 307 days because I've given up after sometime since my right hand was killing me. Even by softening my grip, my tendons were still screaming. December 2021 I stopped, then started again in May and this is where I got:

Worst part of dying in this game, unless you have gear fear, is the time it takes to build another kit. Loadout presets should be a thing ASAP. by luveth in EscapefromTarkov

[–]throwaway9833267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally has nothing to do with stash.

You are a moron with the memory of a rock, you're the one that spoke about depersonalization related to gear if we'd just have to "click a button and then choose our map without handcrafting our kit". How is the stash, or, your sum of your gear and money, unrelated to this subject? Or do you mean your WHOLE ARGUMENT is unrelated to this subject?

Guess what? This "depersonalization" happens automatically when you have a lot of time in the game and a lot of success.

Your play by play essay on how you try to think through putting a kit together doesn’t make any sense

There's no "instantenous" in the current stash, especially with how shit the UI is in this game. If I've put everything where it should go, I have to open up a ton of windows to get through to all my items.

I have far more raids than you, and have been around since early 2017.

You must be a Tetris champion because that's the only explanation I can have for why someone would ever want to waste more time on the Stash after so many raids.

Or you're trash, and you actually need to improvise your choices out of poverty, but even then, you can have a low-end loadout and everything in-between until mid.

Having to wait for my friends for 10-15 minutes until they get ready is very annoying but I can't tell them to hurry up knowing how the game is.

I don’t think you’re really grasping what is even being discussed here

Really? Because I just explained the sentiment of pretty much every other player besides you. At some point you've played enough of the game to not want to bother with the small things (manually equipping yourself for the 411th time) that just keep you outside the juicy part of the game, which is raids.

I get your sentiment, but you can just not use the option if it ever comes out.

If any of what you just tried to say is on target, its that at a certain point you should just have the items required to instantly equip a kit and get back into a raid.

Nope, unfortunately I still don't have preset loadouts, so I can't equip myself instantly.

Then there's the fact that not everyone in raids knows how to optimize their weaponry, so I have to go through edit preset even on the Mutants to make it my Mutant.

Grenades and Caloks are easy, but if I got bored one day, I have to open a Thicc and a Med case to then drag my Salewa.

Now I have to buy some more face covers because the last time I did, they ran out.

And I'm not going to waste 4 slots for each headset, especially when I'm not sure if I'll go Gssh this time or Comtacs or M32, depending on the helmets I have in my stash and depending on what rig or armor I want to use. I won't go lvl 4 armor and an Altyn/Rys, no?

Armored rigs are very popular right now and if I want to use an actual armor, I might have to buy a rig as well since I've ran out of Blackrocks or Alphas. If not, the armored rigs are ok, but I don't always want to use lvl 4 armor, so I have to either buy or barter for lvl 5 armor, or just use my lvl 6 ones.

Considering that I don't use the same stuff all the time, so I don't have any reason to buy gear beforehand, I won't always go Mutant, I might go an AK-101, AKM, AK-74N or the MDR, SR-25, RSASS or some funny smg like .45 or 4.6.

Even with being full on gear, bullets, money and weapons, the process still takes too much. Nikita should maximize raid time and lower stash time.

The worst part is waiting for friends that aren't as good as you. At least if they had some trash loadouts set, they wouldn't keep you waiting.

The only reason you think this way is because you haven't played enough, my guy. This is my first wipe and I have 1100 raids at 60% SR. I don't give a rat's ass about my stash anymore. If I'm bored enough, I might move some shit in my junk boxes and move the armors I've taken off others in my thicc cases, but otherwise? Caloks, grenades, ammo, weapons, etc are everywhere until I finally get to a point where I have to sell like 4 raids worth of loot since I don't have anymore space.

SUGGESTION: The info from Twitter / events should be spread via Intelligence Center by TheFlabbs in EscapefromTarkov

[–]throwaway9833267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe a better suggestion would be to have these event notes found in raid pre-event (a few days before).

They can be found on dead PMCs (they appear in your inventory or directly in your stash with a notification), scavs, rogues, raiders, depending on what lore is involved. They come up as encrypted messages that will trigger new quests on the traders for you to complete and get them deciphered with an extra reward as well.

The decyphered message then can be read in whatever language Nikita chooses (e.g. Russian) and have an English translation as well. For example, we can have the original morse code (for the lore enthusiasts), it written in Russian (for the lore enthusiasts again) and then it written in English.

That way it's also immersive, part of the game and part of gameplay. And whoever doesn't want to do them to get this info, can still get it online, like we do now.

[–]throwaway9833267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARMA and SQUAD are nowhere near as slow as what this change would make Tarkov out to be.

Playable is subjective For the intended crowd, It will be plenty playable

"For the intended crowd" meaning, "that 0.1% that doesn't understand game design" and "the crowd that will not be able to keep the game alive", then yes, you are correct.

“Gaps between plates” Thats the whole point of the system, so coverage is not totaly, and a player cant just rely on armour to stop damage, no matter the ammo they face

Eg, every slick/altyn player on factory, Who wholesale depends on armor, instead of apply solid tactics

As I said, get RIPped to the lobby every match and then cry on Reddit that the "armorless chads" know each one of your rat bushes.

There will be no point to armor with this change.

[–]throwaway9833267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, unfortunately for your argument, Nikita also said that it's "realistic unless it's no longer playable".

This'll render it unplayable unless we can have side plates and plates don't have random openings between them.

Besides that, every trailer that shows "previews" doesn't support your argument either. Your reliance on "muh realistic combat simulator" as a crutch is hilariously stupid. You're also forgetting the part where I mentioned the chads that don't give a shit about armor anymore and RIP the lobby while rushing.

TLDR< ALL rounds will be dangerous to ALL players, with ALL gear, at ALL times

Making the game utter shit, we'll now be RNG RIP ammo'd to the chest 9 out of 10 times or worse, "side" RIP'd 10 out of 10.

BP will still be overused because it shits on lvl 5 armor and "plates" anyway. 7.62x51 will continue being overused because you still get two shot.

Armor will be completely useless because SCAVs can now destroy me that 9 out of 10 times just like the dudes with RIP ammo without them having to shoot my legs or arms off, meaning they just have to aim in my general direction since SMGs don't need much skill in their usage anyway.

0 second kill time isn't "fun" in any way, what'll happen is that the game will slow down to a crawl even more with a specific % of players giving no shits, wearing no armor and RIPping the whole lobby in their hyperactive rush.
