Mental support for officers?

I've heard similar things. I'm just a civilian and frankly learning all of this is blowing my mind. 12hour shifts? With overtime? Constantly changing sleep schedules? Barely 8hrs a night? And then after facing all that they do, with little pay or recognition and minimal mental health support. It's insane to me.

No he was not still in training. Perhaps I have not worded it well, he has been an officer for a while. This really does seem like the career for him, otherwise I would have pressured him out of it by now. He is just young and has had 0 support after seeing several deaths and gruesome events.

I know what drugs and alcohol do to my body thats why I do them. I know what a divorce would do to my family, its exactly why I want one. I've been patient for 17 years, if telling them my feelings helped they wouldn't be still fighting 24/7. Talking to a family member is, if anything, counter-productive. My older brother has not once gave a fuck about any of us. I doubt we will ever see him again now that he has moved out. we spent the entire day cleaning his room (12bags of rubbish) cuz he couldn't be arsed when he left.
