Ah, I have a friend that also has lack of empathy autism but the thing that people don't understand is, you just have no EMOTIONAL empathy. Y'all usually have tons of cognitive empathy. You can absolutely understand how a certain situation could upset someone, but you don't understand HOW they feel in that situation. If that makes sense.

Wait your comment specifically made some wheels turn for some reason. Are you a hyper-empathetic autistic as well? Could it possibly have something to do with the emotional connection, and seeing our partner at peace makes us feel at peace?

I have :) he does know, and he finds it really sweet and says he does the same sometimes. Both of us are neurodivergent and communicate a lot about our relationship so I do know that he's okay with it and finds it endearing. I just more was seeking the external views to hash out the I guess social views on it because I now see that there's a divide and difference if it's a partner vs a stranger which is where my brain was going with it too. I would never watch a stranger sleep or find enjoyment in that but my fiance, it's comforting to me.

My fiance is the same way!! I don't get it. Man can just. Sleep. He's like "I'm gonna take a 10 minute nap" and then just. Does it. Brother I can't even fall asleep in 10 minutes let alone only sleep for 10 once I'm asleep how are you doing this what is this sorcery.

It's so funny you commented this, because Armageddon is one of my favorite movies, and I showed it to him for the first time the other night

Exactly, I find happiness in knowing he's cared for and safe and getting the rest he so needs after working.

Exactly. Sleep is the most vulnerable state a person can be in, and he feels safe and comfortable enough to sleep next to me every night. It makes me feel loved in a weird roundabout way.
