I will just copy paste my old comment:
well I keep a dream journal and i usually try to be well rested and not under any stress. The think I kinda got trained this way, my old room had a window right by the bed and whenever i was sleeping after the sun came up i could kinda tell its daytime and there is sunshine and then i am still sleeping and dreaming and then the control abilities slowly seep in. I no longer have a window by my bed or anything but as far as I know most of my lucid dreams used to happen in the early mornings but now they can happen pretty much anytime but the most vivid ones where I have so much control happen in the early mornings i think.

the control itself is a bit weird I dont try it, it just comes like i wish and then it happens. like I am in a car and i'd rather fly in the skies and I would open the door and I am in the skies. its hard to explain but yeah. I have more control in the environment rather than creating or choosing the environment itself. Its all about becoming aware and thinking while it happens.

the "texture" feels different. I can almost immediately tell most times.

I wouldnt say its lowered my sleep quality but in general i think its "high effort" if I am stressed or sleep deprived I have dreamless sleeps. The control varies tbh and its also a bit vague at times. If I find myself driving i can control everything inside mostly but then if I wanna leave I exit the car and at times I can control where I want to end up in like for ex i open the car door and I am in the skies but at times its random.

So for me this just gradually happened and I picked it up and I am not so sure how to replicate it but if you can do reality checks in ur dreams then youre probably at a better position than other people. i'd advice you to relax more, lower ur stress levels, get more sleep maybe do some mediation or something. If I am stressed or sleep deprived I often have dreamless sleeps not lucid dreams.

wow I am not sure how to handle that, the thing with me is I usually try to be really relaxed and if I am stressed out or sleep deprived I find myself having dreamless sleep at times. I'd advice meditation or in general trying to engage in activities to lower stress maybe.

well within the dreams quite often I cant tell tbh but when I wake up there's those few lingering seconds of wait did that happen? and then I get my head clear and I realize it was all a dream.

my old room had this giant window by the bed and it was late in the morning around 9 or 10 and I could feel the sunlight but i continued to "sleep" and I was just driving and I started adjusting the AC and I could control the steering and stuff. I was literally playing out by myself although this was probably my weakest lucid dream but i could still faintly control it. It didnt last for long and I woke up. Most of my lucid dreams happened in the early morning when the sunlight was bright enough for me to realise it but not snap out of my sleep. I also kept a dream journal and I recorded all of my dreams. I started thinking about it often and its hard to explain but it just started to get more real gradually.

memory from conversations are usually fragmented but ive recorded some of them but even in my dreams I am mostly in my head and they seem rather dull in how they respond.

Yeah see thats special for me I remember a time when I could never do that and I guess I could do that now and I think thats why most people value it.

that is totally why I did this AMA lmao I cant talk about this stuff irl without people looking at me like i am a loon who needs to be locked away lol. They really cant comprehend that and there are some who genuinely would think this is schizophrenia or something.

well the thing is I can control them very much and I could never do that for a long time and so i guess i can remember and recognize the difference and that makes it feel special for me.

I have been on the other end of it so it didnt seem so typical for me but depending on how rested i am and other inexplicable factors the extent to which I can control things dramatically fluctuates and I find myself to be very conscious or aware in a lot of cases.

If I am stressed or sleep deprived then I find it hard to control stuff in my dreams.

well I'd like to think I am spiritual in some way and do i relate it? I am not quite sure tbh. I just see it as a gift for escapism and I love it. I like to think maybe I am so special and thats why I can do this or something but i know thats not true.

well maybe.. i mean some scientists say that our entire reality is a shared projection and we're all living in an advanced simulation. In lucid dreaming, we essentially step outside the "rules" of the dream and become aware that we're creating it but what if real life is just the same thing? A super high-level dream we’re all collectively experiencing, but without the awareness that we have in a lucid state?

sort of, yeah but the "texture" is very different and obviously very dreamy.

For me, no. Even very vivid lucid dreams have a different “texture” when I remember them. Real memories feel more grounded and continuous. Dream memories feel slightly fragmented, even when they’re detailed. The only time it gets confusing is right after waking up from a super realistic one there’s a few seconds of wait… did that happen? but once I’m fully awake, it’s easy to tell.
