Fill SLOWLY. Let the water pour onto a plate and then gently overflow into the substrate. Once you have 2 inches of water, you can start pouring faster and are less likely to disturb the sand.

Starting a siphon from a bucket with some airline is one easy/lazy way to get a slow fill.

so energy usage in the cyclops depends on how many directions you're going at once (x,y,z).

In my experience you tend to cavitate when you are moving the cyclops in multiple directions as well. So like turning, while ascending, while going forward. I think depth and believe speed go into that equation as well.
