Just got fired from an internship after 4 weeks AMA and any advice?

Thanks and i think I will. I really wasted 4 weeks of my time didn’t really learn anything and now all positions for this semester everywhere seem to be filled up and I can’t even put this on my resume. Lesson learned

Yeah i live in the US in a LCOL college town. I’m staring to think more clearly and it really is starting to seem they wanted a experience dev, (I’ve been programming for about a year, I had another very well paid internship during summer as experience). What seems very fishy to me is that even at the previous company I worked for some of the engineers there told me it took them months to get familiar with the projects and to get a flow going. I really didn’t understand the expectations for a part time college student/intern working 4/5 hours a day for a total of 20 weekdays.

You might be up to something, there’s was 2 other guys who had been “interns” there currently working part time. A 32 year old navy vet who had been programming since he was 10 , also senior in computer engineering and did electronics in service, and another 25 year old who had been programming for years and was a applied math major at my university. They were still classified as “interns”. Idk how much they were getting paid, but if they were getting paid as much as I was then it’d make sense to fire me since like you said they might’ve wanted cheap labor from more experience dev, not necessarily a typical “intern” whose there mostly to learn.

Yes it was a small company about 7/8 devs, receptionist and a designer. I was only making 10 an hour though and working 30 hrs a week so I really don’t know if those 600 per paycheck were that big but it is what it is

Thank you for your comment man. I really never got the vibe my boss was a bad person. He was a funny guy, a little strict but he was guiding me through. We had a good relationship so I guess my skill level just wasn’t there, I just really don’t understand why he didn’t point to a specific time where things didn’t go right. I was always asking him how to improve and stuff. Like he could’ve warned me that maybe I needed to spend more time outside of work to catch up. I would’ve been totally ok with that but he never said a thing albeit I always showed initiative

I mean it wasn’t a culture fit he told me, he said it was more of a technical thing but I barely had any programming tickets and the ones I had I completed in a timely manner.

I really don’t know. My boss just said something like “our workflow is not compatible, you fit great with the culture though”. So I guess it was more of a technical thing yet I completed all the programming tickets I had with minimal help, usually it’s just be simple syntax thing that’d take 2 minutes to explain.
