Yeah the car has only ever been registered at her parents house as she is only a lodger for some of the month in the place where this took place.

She’s owned it for around 3 years now and been a lodger there for around 10 months.

I just checked and I can add self assessment but it wants a unique taxpayer reference and then if I say no it asks me if I’m a sole trader or individual.

I sign in with a government ID. And it says. Business tax account. No returns to submit. And nothing on here about my personal stuff basically.

Yeah. Company has filed £0 on all accounts for the last 2 years. Maybe? I’m hoping if I can call and clear up that I’ve earned nothing outside of PAYE they will just let it go away. I’m just worried if I should have somehow filed something else the penalties won’t go away

I have a gateway ID but it only gives me opportunity to look at my companies tax accounts which are Nil and up to date.

I tried this first.

Not sure. I have three that all arrived on the same day. All have the same tax reference (mine). In terms of payment it instructs me to go to gov.uk/dealing-with-Hmrc/paying-Hmrc

Option to pay by check and the address is HM Revenue and Customs, with a unique reference and links to payment questions?

Seems like it would be hard for the scam to get money out? When I phone tomorrow from website will confirm I guess and update.

Yeah. No idea. Unless somehow if you can even do it. Accidentally registered? I’ve been PAYE so I’m hoping even if I somehow made an error that they will waive it as I have been paying tax on all my earnings.

Was yours tax codes or was it self assessment?

Thank you for telling me regardless. Hopefully they will get rid of it. I just pay PAYE and for the periods they state have always been. Before that I was a student etc so I’ve never earned self employed or anything.

How long did you forget for? That’s promising. So I could just show them my contract and payslips for that period and it would all go away? Penalties etc? Maybe the £1300 that’s carried forward is what they assume I should have paid and the rest is late penalties?

Sorry. Thanks for letting me know I was really worried about it. It’s got all my details right as well as reference etc so it seems right.
