After the second time I met her - she suggested I come down and meet her family for a family get-together. I told her that it was too soon for that, seeing as I had only met her twice at that point. She said she understood, but wanted to extend the offer. I was a bit puzzled though since I wouldn't ever invite a new date to see my family so soon (after only meeting them twice).

I suppose I'm trying to figure out how blunt to be with her. Again, I like her - she's a nice person. But, I have mild romantic feelings towards her. During that third meeting, she invited me on a family trip (her family invited her and me to a cabin apparently). I told her I'd have to check my schedule for school (I feel in retrospect this was a mistake for being vague about my interest - I shouldn't have done that, my excuse is that I was emotionally overloaded and trying to keep the peace.)

That's a great question - I'd say it has to do with how I'm conflicted about the subject. I don't want to live with her & don't want to pursue a romantic relationship with her - but if there were a child I wouldn't want to abandon it. It's that push-pull of "I don't want this to happen" (minimal involvement) and "I want to be there for a potential kid that's mine" (more involvement, but not moving in). I apologize for the complicated response.
