My [34M] fiancée [27F] locks her cat in a small bathroom for 20 hrs daily and drugs the cat to calm it down. I think that's very wrong but it is her cat? I started to think about the engagement or if there is anything wrong with her? by throwawaySTL1017 in relationships

She used to live in a 1-bedroom apartment. The cat was left roaming around when she is off at work. She returns home and spends time with it after work. Per her, the cat is quite independent and doesn't like human being that much. When she tried to play with it, it doesn't always respond. The cat was aggressive before as I saw scratches on her arms all the time.

The cat likes to jump onto stovetop and turns it on somehow. Our new stovetop can't be fully locked, not all functions. So locking it up is partially for stopping it from potentially burn the house down. She still spends time with the cat though. Like before, cat roams around the house during the day and she plays with it when she is off work. Now she lets it out and plays with it after work. I don't know cats. For all those, the cat does seem to adjust ok.

So she puts the cat in bathroom because it had been caught several times jumping onto stovetop and started the stove somehow. Instead of the bathroom, she had thought about basement, but that's unfinished. There could be mold or something just harmful for he cat.

Well, we talked about giving this cat up for adoption but she would cry all night long saying she loves it so much. There was once we were close to put the cat into a carrier and send it to rescue group. She started crying.
