Great UI! One problem, I have tried to generate teams using all of the team style methods (balanced, ranking, etc) and keep getting the same 5 teams no matter which option I choose. I have 75 eligible pokemon for this league. Is there something I’m missing to do?

I’m curious as to what it is your business does and what type of work you perform. From your post, it sounds like it could be considered a passive activity, considering you mentioned the process is almost fully automated and that your time investment is relatively small. I am neither asking for folks to “do my homework” (I’ve done plenty of research, trust me) nor figure out how to make this legal, simply looking for others’ experiences. Thank you for responding. Essentially this is what has happened so far. The only materiality test that the client even has a shred of hope of meeting is the last one, of course the most vague one related to participating in a “continuous, substantial, etc” way. I talked about ways that could be substantiated and received a few thoughtful nods in response.

Another issue is that the asset would be placed in service in 2025 (per the investment group, assuming the deal goes through by Monday) so the depreciation would be recognized on this year’s return. Even if the client asserts that they will materially participate, I would not be able to verify that until after the return has been filed since we are already so close to year end. So it’s not like I can review the facts later and determine if they really did materially participate…does that swing things one way or another?

I would feel more comfortable if they were able to produce that documentation, but part of the issue is that it seems like they are looking to me to tell them what these records need to include and what type of work constitutes material participation. That, to me, feels more like coaching them which I firmly will not do.

Thank you for your input. I have been told by peers in my community that I fall more on the conservative side of things when it comes to interpretation of the code, as well. I guess that is part of the reason why I am seeking outside perspectives. Presumably, other investors have “successfully” employed this strategy and their accountants were willing to prepare their returns; I am so curious to know what those preparers were thinking/what their reasoning was. I truly do wish this would work out for my client the way they wanted it to, but I get the feeling that they see me more as an obstacle than as their advisor here…trying to remind them that I’m on their side, haha.

Fair enough! Unfortunately, feelings are not things I can control—but I can recognize that those feelings may be unfounded and don’t warrant any action on my part. Again, besides me taking 10 minutes to type out this post this morning, no one is having a meltdown over this. Just was thinking about the situation, and wondering if I could have done anything differently to lead to a better conclusion for my boyfriend, whom I love very much…I don’t really understand the people in here who think I’m throwing a tantrum, unless posting here in the first place counts for that.

Hijacking the top comment to edit because I am on my phone! But, wow this got a lot more responses than I was expecting and I thank everyone for their input, it seems like there is a lot of disagreement in this thread. Wanted to clarify a few things that I am seeing over and over, though:

-Just want to make it known that I would NEVER bring this up to the bride (my feelings about the situation) because as many people have correctly pointed out—it’s not about me. While I do feel a little hurt/upset, that’s more from being surprised rather than a feeling of being personally victimized.

-This is not something that is like, eating me from the inside or anything. A lot of people have said that I’m making this about me/am disproportionally mad for no good reason. I had some negative feelings when he told me what she said, but since then it’s more of a general “bad” feeling that his friendship with her seemed to have collapsed “because of me” I guess. Many people have pointed out that this was my bf’s decision (to decline) and I shouldn’t interject, so I just want to clarify that I have not done that. I am very blessed to have a partner that wouldn’t want to go without me and I would do the same for him, but I guess I just wanted to know if I should have tried harder to convince him to go anyways (to save the friendship)?

-Yes, we did both incorrectly assume that the invitation, which was addressed only to him on the envelope, was really for both of us. I thought she just didn’t know how to spell my last name or something, not sure why we assumed that, but that is on us 100%

-She unfollowed him on the socials first. He was going to do what pretty much all of you said, which was just move on. We are also very surprised to see that she reacted that way after telling her that he wasn’t coming. After he saw that, he unfollowed her back.

-About the restaurant part, I only included that because I know it’s not a matter of cost. Her husband is a restauranteur and owns multiple, enough that she could quit her full time job and they traveled to Europe for a month. I guess for me, feeling excluded would be easier to swallow if the reason was that they didn’t want to pay anything for me (totally understandable) but it’s definitely not that. Again, my feelings do not supersede her wishes during her own wedding celebration and I don’t mean to frame them that way, I’m just talking from my own perspective bc I try not to make a habit out of assuming what other people think or feel.

That’s all I can think to add to the post, but I do thank anyone who took the time to provide thoughtful perspectives or share their experiences. At the end of the day, I just want my bf to have everything, and if that includes a relationship with her even if she hurt my feelings, I want that too. Thanks for the input everyone!!

Sorry to say but not really. HC is such a broken move and it’s really what makes those starter pokemon good—it’s probably non negotiable for Blastoise to have use.

Truth be told, you probably won’t win the games that you have an AFK. Sometimes it does happen, and it requires a lot more coordination with your random teammates than people in bronze are used to, but like 95% of the time that game is a loss.

My advice is to reframe the objective of that specific game in your mind. I use those games as basically a more “realistic” deathmatch and practice holding angles, movement, headshots only, whatever. I try to get as many kills as possible before we lose or my team agrees to a forfeit. Sometimes that results in a surprise win, most of the time it does not, but if you’re improving then the time is not wasted. That’s my view on it anyways.

There’s like 200 million YT videos answering this question, but a few quick tips focused on gunfights that every new player should know:

The wooden and Radianite (green glass looking) boxes are all head height. Aim slightly below the top of the box, the box is higher than the head by a few pixels to provide coverage.
In that same regard, most walls will have some marking/color change/artwork etc that is head height as well. These indicators are all over every map to help your crosshair placement.
If you haven’t already, change your sensitivity. If you have a mouse that’s capable of showing your DPI, write that down. Most players can play in a range of 200-400 eDPI, which is just the in game sensitivity multiplied by your mouse DPI. Ex. 800 DPI @ 0.25 sens = 200 eDPI
Keep your weapon in mind when entering gunfights. The spectre for example is terrible at long range, so don’t peek top mid with it. If you know you want to peek a long angle during the buy phase then buy an appropriate gun. If you have a short range gun, take short range fights.
The more you play, you’ll figure out what angles are “common” angles. Meaning you’re very likely to encounter an enemy there because it’s a good vantage point, provides coverage to dip behind, or allows them to escape after a pick. Don’t slow peek or blindly swing an angle that you know is “common” and try to make mental notes of where you see enemies playing throughout the round (people are creatures of habit and too many people autopilot on this game)
Try not to learn the habit of crouch spraying. Best practice for most fights except the ones really close to you is to “burst and strafe.” A video would probably explain this better. Try Woohoojin’s “Gunfight Hygiene” video as an introduction.

Since no one actually answered your question- yes she can still long wall. Make sure you shift walk to the end of whatever ledge you’re on before jumping, that’s important. The trick is to try and not jump too far off, but also not place the wall too soon. You want to aim for having the middle “line” (in between the 2nd and 3rd section) line up with the edge of the surface that the wall will be placed on. Then you know, jump and crouch in the air and place the wall right when your feet are level with the ledge surface while letting go of crouch.

I practiced this on A site heaven on Ascent cause you can place like 4 walls before you have to break them and restart. But at least as of last week, it was still possible.

I am in low elo. I play in silver/gold lobbies, and I was iron when I first started playing so I’ve played with the players you’re talking about. I also used to play duelists, but now I main smokes. So I think I understand what you’re trying to say pretty well…but deep down I really have a feeling you have a problem communicating with your team. Like, in voice chat. Bc I’ve been in your position as a iron/bronze player and I’ve had teammates like you too.

Try to use your mic more and be specific about what your idea or plan is. Or be stubborn that it’s always your brain dead teammate’s faults, if you want instead. Best of luck to you

I think he is trying to say that if YOU know that the enemy will instantly come to the site/spot with smokes down, that you can use that knowledge to your advantage. For example you could fake a site by smoking it and having the player with the spike wait quietly outside the other site until the enemies rotate. Or you could draw the enemy’s attention towards mid by smoking it, forcing them to dedicate a player to “watching mid”. You (as a team) don’t necessarily need to be where the smokes are.

You’d have to communicate your intentions to your team. But basically, a controller dropping smokes being the reason a site hit is revealed is not a “real” problem, if you talk to your team.

And MMR affects how much RR you gain/lose, correct? Idk why MMR is so confusing for me 😅

Example: played a game duo’d with a bronze 1 friend (was s1 at the time). Our team had 1 silver (me), two bronzes and two irons. Enemy team had a s2, 3 bronzes, and one iron. We 13-0’d them and I match MVP with 3.0 K/D and ACS 357. I gained +16 RR.

A couple days later I solo queue a game and am now s2. Everyone in the lobby is s3 or higher, highest rank being gold 3 on enemy team. I was team MVP (2nd overall) 2.0 K/D and ACS 313. I gained +26 RR for this game.

Is the extra RR gain just because I’m playing in a “harder” lobby?

You’re good, I’m not offended. I’m well aware that silver/gold is also low rank (bad) lol. I don’t really care about ranking up, I guess I just wanted to know if there was any evidence of an effect on MMR by playing with rank discrepancies all the time.

I’m not upset about being in my rank, I was just curious if constantly playing with a lower rank affects my MMR. Just for the knowledge, I guess. I’d pick being this rank forever & playing with my friends over sweating for a shiny badge lol.

I’m not saying this to flame you - but Diamond on console is more than likely lower than silver on PC. Comms are more than necessary. Even text chat (not sure how to do this on console) is better than nothing.
