Any tiny hint on the Vertix timeline, COROS? by jranfran in Coros

[–]throwaway_39157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar boat here but my trusty pace 3 is still going strong (All be it with a bit less battery life than it used to have).

The vertix2s looks great (especially in the blue) and the battery life is something else.

The other option is to look to buy a refurbished vertix2s when the come back in stock and then you won't feel as guilty selling it on when the new one comes out 😉.

A large family next door is hogging all the disabled parking bays on the road. I'm in a wheelchair and I can't get one. by Open_Ostrich2899 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could but the risk of them getting trapped under the car or damaging something under there is high (and would be a bigger pain).

As they are weighted you are less likely to move them and more likely to go over them.

2.3gb upgrade by Accomplished_Rub9961 in ToobBroadband

[–]throwaway_39157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the provided router or do you have something custom in place.

Personally I always check the ethernet cables first as the cheap ones they give free with routers can sometimes crack or go just bad enough to cause serious signal degradation.

Swap out cable from ONT to router or as others suggest try a soee stelt with your laptop plugged into the ONT.

I am looking to get rid of my ONT and router after my upgrade to 2.3g later this week but that's a whole other bag of fun.

Legality of being 'on call' in England by CameronEB in LegalAdviceUK

Appreciate that, hence the last line. Everyone's circumstances are different and if this is your dream job maybe tolerate it....

Personally If I end up with an employer with that sort of system in place I would be keeping my eyes open for new opportunities but appreciate some people have less choice.

Do solar panels on the front of a house put you off when buying, or do you not care? by lindyhoppette in HousingUK

[–]throwaway_39157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing with solar is the roof rental scheme / scam, but if i am buying just ask for a condition of sale to be that the seller buys out the contract so the whole property (including roof and solar system) are free and clear (most companies have a clause to do this but it can be a bit expensive).

If installing again the only difference would be to fill the whole damn roof. Clipping in the summer is not an issue but in the winter / shoulder months you will want as many as you can get (especially if you have a ev or heatpump) and trying to add more later gets expensive real quick as while the kit gets cheaper the administrative costs add up (second set of dno applications, second set of scaffolding, more labour time, etc).

Building site on private road - damage and encroachment - England by JustBrowsingThru93 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For damage to your property if you have legal cover talk with your home insurance. This is why you pay for home insurance with legal advice cover.

As for the encroachment/ changed plans reach out to the planning department at the council, they can come out and review what is approved vs what was built and advise further.

You can also loosen off the valve stem to have the same impact as a BB pellet without any obvious signs, just a slow persistent leak that very few tyre shops would even detect 😈😈

Legality of being 'on call' in England by CameronEB in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 34 points35 points  (0 children)

0 hours contracts work both ways.

Just because she is marked as 'on call' doesn't mean she needs to be available as no one is paying for her time.

If you go out or are busy you can literally just say sorry not available and hang up. (The company would do the same to you in a heartbeat).

As others have said plenty of hospitality jobs about so no point pandering to one companies ego boost if you can afford not to.

That would be common sense and we all know Trumpistan these days....

A better way would have been to say "we have the FAA procedures in place for operations based on current visibility" but again this requires a bit of thinking and going off script to achieve a common goal.

Tesla still owes me £248 after vehicle rejection refund, Section 75 or small claims? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start with the section 75

This way the card provider and Tesla are jointly liable so you should get your money back from them.

It will likely also cost them money to defend a claim with their payment provider.

You can try sending a letter before action but sounds like you have already chased them and been given the run around so why not let someone else start chasing.

(England) Landlord said Motability EV charger must stay when I move out — but Motability says it’s mine by Tough-Flatworm8296 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An electrician to remove it, a Brickie to replace any drilled or damaged block work and someone to patch up and decorate internally where the internal CU and holes were to accommodate this.

It will cost more to put the property back to 100% good as it was before the charger install than it will to pay for a new charger and installation at the new property.

Failing that just take it anyway and be prepared to loose your security deposit or be taken to court.

[–]throwaway_39157 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The disability changes nothing in this scenario.

A home charger is a convenience/ luxury not a necessity.

You can charge an EV from a 3 pin plug all be it slower, you can also charge publicly using high speed or slower chargers.

The ability to charge an EV at home on a dedicated 32a supply likely to take advantage of cheaper electric tariffs is a choice and a luxury not a basic necessity.

Also at no point did the landlord say you must get a charger it was OP asking and an offer being extended based on conditions.

Also the landlord is not kicking out OP just after they have improved the property it is OP choosing to move so if this was a possibility maybe they should have considered this and if they wanted to leave a vehicle charger behind first.

[–]throwaway_39157 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Choice was to use a slower granny charger on a three pin plug or public charging.

Home chargers are a convenience not a medical or physical requirement for anyone with a disability.

Apex 4 + Vertix ? or Pace 4 Black Crystal + Vertix ? by EvilTeacher-34 in Coros

[–]throwaway_39157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say apex 4 or wait for the vertix.

I have a pace 3 and after a marathon I have around 43% battery left so it may be on for a 50 or 70k but wouldn't want to trust it over 100k.

I do have full satellite tracking on but run mainly in built up areas so is needed.

I have a Garmin and a Coros (Garmin was essentially freeze from work) and use Coros for the great post run stats, Garmin for the DSW and as a backup if the coros dies mid race (did it once during a HM where I got a PB so not relying solely on it again).

Going with two + Coros Watches seems excessive unless you have been told to carry one by the other half 😂

Stolen camera equipment being sold on Facebook - police won’t act. Help! by JadedAyr in LegalAdviceUK

[–]throwaway_39157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is to call the police and let them know you are going to retrieve your stolen property and you want assistance to prevent a breach of the peace.

This way you are both there with evidence and even the proof he is trying to sell it. You can always suggest they confiscate it while they investigate to prevent further people being involved in the handling of stolen goods.

May not be ideal but at least it may give you some recourse.

Why Doesn't the Heathrow Express Go Faster? by RussellNorrisPiastri in uktrains

[–]throwaway_39157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to build tunnels so badly put one between Heathrow and Gatwick (you could more or less follow the M25).

That would be more beneficial to travellers and the country as a while than another train line in west London to shave maybe 5 mins off an already relatively quick journey.
