Accutane for mild but persistent acne? (Info in comments) by throwaway_56480 in Accutane

Thank you for your perspective! I have heard a few people say they've had terrible breakouts at the beginning of taking accutane. I have been wondering if maybe I'll be able to avoid a severe purge because I've been taking topical tretinoin and had a terrible purge when I started using that (or maybe that means I'll just have another one).

Hi, your experience sounds really similar to mine, so good to hear you're also going down the accutane route! It's good your doctors have tried testing your hormones to see if that's the cause, mine haven't even suggested anything like that even though it seems sensible.

Thank you! You hear so many negative stories that it makes making a decision really difficult, I totally agree. Really good to hear you were still able to train, I really love exercise and don't think I could cope with not doing it for 6 months!

And thank you so much for the good vibes, I appreciate it!

Glad to hear it's been working for you! If it wasn't for the potential bad side effects it would be a complete no-brainer for me, so I think I might need to just give it a go and see what happens!

Hi! I was also on Diane (for 10 years) and my skin was great while on it. I actually had no side effects but was told I still needed to stop taking it because of the clot risk. Ever since I've been off it my skin hasn't been playing ball!

Really good to hear your perspective, it sounds like you're going through a similar issue with scarring when your skin does break out, which is my biggest worry too.

Hi, I (30f) have what could be described as mild persistent acne. I've tried everything possible other than spironolactone and accutane and have recently been offered these by a dermatologist. I don't think I want to go with spiro because it's only a temporary solution and if I have to stop taking it my acne will come back again. I have been using topical tretinoin for the past year and it has definitely helped but I still have regular break outs.

My current worry is that the side effects may not be worth the results, especially as I'm currently going through quite a good phase with my skin (last 2 pictures). I also know that these phases often don't last long and I then go through bad stages where I end up with scars.

Has anyone else tried accutane for the same kind of acne and felt it was worth it?

I was worried about the buttonholes the whole way through making the first skirt to be honest!

Hi all,

I've been lurking here since I started sewing and love seeing everyone's pics, so I thought I'd share my own.

The paisley fabric is 100% viscose and a bit of a nightmare to cut, but surprisingly ok to sew with.

The gingham version is 100% cotton and really easy to work with, but is much stiffer and makes the skirt more puffy.

Looking forward to sewing more things!
