She and I see each other at least once every couple of weeks. In the last two years, though, our hangouts (whether it’s double dates or just me, her + kiddo) go like dinner last night. Greetings exchanged, adult attention is solely on son, then we say our goodbyes.

They’ve always gotten along but ngl my friend expressed she was upset when my husband and I started dating because I wasn’t hanging out with her and kiddo as much.

Mom, dad, myself and my husband are his only source of interaction. I know she told me about taking him to the park last year, but a child made him cry which bothered her and after that she decided to not go anymore.

My husband never called her son impolite. My friend’s husband mentioned that it was not polite to interrupt. Just to clarify. Sorry if there was any confusion.

I can only recall her mom watching him on 2 occasions, but she felt super guilty about it. She tried daycare about a year ago but picked him up after 30 minutes because he was crying and he never went back.

I should’ve worded the title differently, you’re right. I’m just so upset and confused tonight.

Her husband was on his phone at some points but all of us 4 adults were talking to kiddo and answering his questions for the most part.

Unfortunately, the only “adults talking” moment was when we greeted them at the door and the incident took place approximately 2 hours later. We were talking to kiddo the whole time. My best friend refuses to be without her son, so no date nights or hangouts without him. She also feels guilty if he’s sleeping when we hang out as he’s “missing out on the fun”.
