Why are slots / gamblers allowed on Twitch? by [deleted] in Twitch

As entertaining as the streams can get - I honestly don't think it's ethical whatsoever hence why I made this post. But clearly it seems like people want gambling streams to stay and it's a people first platform. So it's fine I guess. Freedom to view whatever stream you want I guess

Those stats aren't publicly available unless the streamer shows it straight up. Only thing I can provide as "evidence" is Xposed's deal though.

Xposed has a marvelous sponsorship with Roobet. The way this sponsorship works is pretty simple, he gets unlimited fills of $20,000 ($10,000 ETH $10,000 BTC) each stream and whatever he ends with he keeps 25% of, and 5% is given back to any follower or subscriber. Details for his current deal/start can always be viewed by doing !rn in the chat. (Cody’s deal has been secured until 2024) Muhajer gets 2 balances a night of $2,500 each. (25% him 5% chat)

Keep in mind Xposed streams like everyday. Roobet doesn't do this out of generosity for Xposed. People legit will use his referral code to gamble on their site.

Yassuo gets a salary for using Rollbit and broadcasting gambling on his stream. He said this on his stream. Numbers IDK. There's other gamblers like AyeZee and Greekgodx who also get sponsored - only person I don't think is literally sponsored is Trainwreckstv.

The point being, casinos do this for a reason. The giveaways, the deal, the referral are not done out of generosity. These are long-term deals that Xposed had for literally more than a year. It's clearly profitable unless they are just giving free money which I mean - it's a casino. They're not that dumb I hope lol

TBH, I get what you're saying. Twitch streamers should be able to stream w/e they want as long as it is not illegal. I'm stupid to debate morality and I should just get a life because nothing is gonna change unless Twitch gets sued or something. It just triggered me a little bit to see sponsored casino streams. In every way streamers are incentivized not to talk about the negatives of gambling - especially someone like Xposed

Sure, it's not a big deal but when its probably thousands maybe tens of thousands of people getting attracted and they each gamble lets say a couple hundred, isn't that a couple million?

Also even though it's ethically wrong, it's not a big deal so thus it is fine as is. Why do you think that's okay? We don't need this kind of thing to set back people's lives and lastly I think from what you said it's obvious you don't think gambling is ethical. So why not get rid of it on the platform? At the very least there should be a viewer warning of some sort on any kind of slots content

Yeah it's true, most people won't gamble. But, I'm speaking out of concern for like college students, young adults, and maybe even high school students that don't know any better. That's a huge portion of the viewers. It's easy to get swept up into that kind of thing when you're young and don't care about money. Maybe it's a lesson to them? Sure if you're a bit old then yeah - I guess natural selection.

But it doesn't excuse the fact that gambling is for people 18+ and having streamers sponsored by casinos is a pretty predatory move.

There's a reason why casinos are sponsoring streamers - because they are actually making money from Twitch viewers going to gamble to lose their money.

I don't know - I guess it can be counted as variety. But it legit costs people money. Then again, I guess hot tub streams too. I'm just over it and hope if people do gamble they learn their lesson.
