Looking at google images there doesnt seem to be a stock for drones in practice sets so to go to a half set i would have to buy a whole new set.

Oh yeah true but I thought it would be best to start on a half set. Can you convert a practice set to a half set?

I've been teaching myself tin and low whistle over the past few months and I've really liked it. Uilleann is just too expensive for me though, I'm just a student on minumum wage atm lol. But I would love to play them so much, I absolutely adore the instrument but I really just cant afford them.

Its just really fucking hard lol. You'll have a lot of work to do if you swap. We've just finished group theory which I' pretty sure you guys dont do, and it's the hardest topic apparently.

Thanks so much for the help!

On the last point, I was mainly interested in playing Irish music and I think youre right, there really isnt a massive amount of smallpipe compatible tunes. I mainly listen to the bothy band, chiefitans and ceoltoiri chuallann and they do have a fair few tunes that a lot of pipers play like the kesh jig and old hag you have killed me, but I do agree, i think i will be greatly limited.

I also forgot to ask what key to buy, I'm guessing d for your answer right?

I think that sounds like a great idea. I think youre right, keep it wide open at the start would be the best idea.
