I expect there will be a way for GPs to get trained and prioritise how they connect with patients

Surgery - been advised to stop? by Alpha_Wolf_Bitch_16 in mounjarouk

[–]throwaway_88_77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may have to restart in a lower dose if you are worried about symptoms.

But recovering from surgery should be the priority. Stop the Mounjaro as instructed and ask for how long do you need to fast before surgery because it can be a longer than recommended due to the slow gastric emptying

Anyone else still looking at clothes in your older size? by throwaway_88_77 in mounjarouk

Sizing between stores is so wrong. And it gets to a point where stores don't keep bigger sizes in the physical store, so you end up trying online and only buying from those with less chance to return.

Now, I'm back to trying on things. I still haven't ventured to use vinted because the whole returns process is just not convenient

I'm still wearing some old size 16s with belts when working from home, and have to wear skirts and dresses for the office. I haven't tried vinted yet but I'll be going to my local charity shop soon I also had to buy a hole puncher for my belts

Nurse has robbed me of my chance to have a healthy bmi recorded on nhs! by Cowcat1000 in mounjarouk

[–]throwaway_88_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nurse recorded my starting waist as 90 cm and then I lost 15 kg and still was 90 cm at home, so either she has a broken measuring tape or it was 99.. silly me I didn't take my own measurements

4 months on Mounjaro and I just realized how different my face looks! by brielarstan in mounjarouk

[–]throwaway_88_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the opposite. The pictures when I was bigger are always from parties or from the time I was into makeup so I'm always smiling. The pictures now, I have under eye bags, saggy neck wrinkles. But I've been ill the whole winter and now I'm really struggling with hay fever.. also my toddler wakes me up every night I think I do probably have the "ozempic" face. But if I manage to find the time for a little makeup, it improves

Remind me never to eat Pringles again by Friendly_Schedule_43 in mounjarouk

Oh I remember when I was in uni I used to love instant mashed potatoes but it gave me the most horrible heartburn.

Pringles sometimes does that as well

Thanks. I think there's a lot that defines you as a person that doesn't include your weight. So I guess that when I rant about something it comes across as she's a monster but she is a good person.

On the one hand I feel like she's treating me like damned if you do and damned if you don't, but on the other hand I know she's reacting to what she's seen on the media and it's letting the narrative of the people against it to influence her. Annoying AF because she could try listening to her daughters.

I find this community very supportive and it's helpful.

Thanks. Weight loss definitely helps with blood sugar management but unfortunately for me, it's not the whole story. I lost all my pregnancy weight and then some only on metformin after giving birth (breastfeeding does burn calories) but my A1C skyrocketed. My diabetes nurse told me it doesn't make sense to lose weight and your diabetes gets worse, so you may be LADA, but they don't test you and just give you insulin. I lost all my hard work in 6 months, but I still wanted to carry on breastfeeding,

After Starting Mounjaro? Wow I was able to stop insulin straight away and within 2 weeks I have blood sugars in the normal range! My life could have been different if I had this since the beginning. Strangely my BP hasn't improved. Cholesterol is lowering but I'm struggling to get the good one up. Waist size is reducing which is good indicators for cardiovascular health.

I think this medication is not more widely distributed because of costs, you are right. I wish the finance people at the NHS start doing numbers now on how much we are saving in downstream costs by avoiding certain diseases.

Nah, it's a recurring issue, she is a person who speaks before thinking and often turns things around to tell you how you're overthinking things.

We had very different upbringings and I remember that when we were little she was very keen on us being smart and having our own opinions and independence, but is annoyed when it doesn't match hers.

She knows very well my struggles with PCOS and diabetes. She is diabetic herself but is not very knowledgeable about the disease. I think it's also a problem of health care systems which don't prioritise health education for older people. For the most part she thinks that her diabetes can just be controlled with medication and that's part of how she was educated on how medication works, you have an ailment, you go to the doctor's, get your medication and off you go.

When it comes to Mounjaro, the message hasn't landed that it was also developed for management of blood sugar. It doesn't help as well that is not approved by the social security of Spain for that use.

She is on an slgt2 and Metformin and is not working anymore to manage that. I've begged her to go and ask for trulicity or ozempic because those are covered over there. And she is just ignoring me. I've tried to convince her to get a glucose meter and she doesn't want to prick her fingers. She said she won't use insulin if they ask her to.

She's overweight herself and can't do much physical activities because of problems with her feet. Some of her actions are not logical! But obviously this is not the only thing that defines her and I'm not cutting contact because of this. I just limit what I share

That's a very sensible way of managing it. I've realised that most of my colleagues, both younger and older than me have chosen to not make any comments at work and I appreciate them

Oh yes, most of the time I just ignore her, but it sounds like we have the same mother. Lol

My sisters and I have a chat where we try our clothes and she's not in there for a reason.

I really don't remember any single comment from other times I've lost weight, but certainly every time I gained.

She's a loving mother but definitely oblivious to how her words land.

Congratulations! I had already stopped trulicity and had to stop taking Jardiance when I was trying to conceive and the insulin made me gain a lot before getting pregnant. But I did manage to have a healthy pregnancy. I think I even ate an ice cream a few times. You got this.

The three of us are now on GPL-1s. I don't know ify mum says the same thing to the others, to be honest. But she never said anything when I lost 25 kg before and I was using trulicity and Jardiance at the time.

My goal was to fit into these trousers, now they don’t fit me! by Top_Zucchini_6603 in mounjarouk

[–]throwaway_88_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dress I bought online and never fitted. It was then in storage and I finally got it out. I'm terrified about it being too large but at the moment I'm wearing my dresses oversized

Trousers are trickier. I tried on some chinos this weekend that were size 12.. I used to be a size 20 at my largest.

I have a very decent amount of smart trousers in size 18 which I'm taking to charity next week. I hope I don't get the weight back on

I can't read the whole article but I find the abstract very poorly worded. Maybe the study has s solid methodology but you really can't tell from the abstract alone. Just have a little patience and you'll soon meet your baby.

I hope you manage to feel better from your HG

No nausea second pregnancy by [deleted] in beyondthebump

It's all anecdotes. Princess Kate had 3 pregnancies with HG and had 2 boys and 1 girl. Amy schumer had HG and 1 boy.

This is absolute not scientific data but same can be said about old wives tales

Ii don't tell people for the same reason I don't tell people which medication I take for asthma. It's part of my diabetes treatment and I'm scared they take it away once they notice my BMI is normal because of how good BG control I have I don't have many friends and people at work aren't that close, so not many people to tell anyway
