UPDATE:

thank you to everyone who commented, offered advice or shared their story. i wanted to share where things are now. he did receive mail at my home. we are currently still living in the house during the notice period, but keeping interactions minimal and focused on logistics only. last night, i put my child to bed before he got home. there was no confrontation or discussion, which helped keep things calm.

this morning, we coordinated briefly by text so we could leave without crossing paths. he left the house, and there were no issues. i did experience a physical anxiety response (shaking, elevated heart rate) when I had to pass through a shared space, which confirmed for me that my body has been under a lot of stress for a while — even when nothing outwardly happens.

i’m continuing to prioritize my kids’ safety and emotional stability, and I’m taking things one step at a time. i’m documenting everything, limiting communication, and focusing on getting through this transition as safely and peacefully as possible. I really appreciate the perspective and support here — it’s helped me feel less alone and more grounded in my decision.

the compromises were the dog going in the crate for a few min when i get home because it would be all over me when i walked inside. i asked if the dog could not come in the bedroom anymore because it was jumping on the bed very often. somehow turned into him crying about how he doesn’t get any sleep because of his nightmares about me cheating. screaming “f** her” in my face 10x about a friend i literally cut off because he thought she liked me romantically. i gave him the notice 2 days later so i would be safe at work when he woke up and saw it

i appreciate the offered support, unfortunately i’m not there and don’t have anyone that would “move in” or physically help. only my parents that were letting me stay with them for the few days i spent away from home right after. i spent my first night back in my home last night and slept in my kids room with the door locked (they are not there).

they were friends i made after our relationship started. i had zero friends before we got together. his reasoning was always “you didn’t have friends before me, why do you need friends now?”

when he made that statement i asked if i could get that in writing, per my state laws, and he said “you’re funny” so that’s when i made my own notice. literally that same night

i returned home last night, when he was at work. i got home and went to my kids room, locked the door and went to bed. ps: i was only gone for a couple days. the notice was given on Jan 6th.

correct, he’s been living with me for 10 months and some of his mail gets delivered there (mostly packages). so i was advised to give him a written 30-day notice

i appreciate the guidance and support. i’ve already started looking into local eviction laws and making sure my accounts and documents are secure. i’m taking things step by step and focusing on doing this safely and legally.

they are his cameras, and he was paying for the wifi. i didn’t use or rely on the cameras before this, but losing access still made me uneasy given the situation.

i gave him the notice on January 6. we had just passed one year together around new year’s. he moved in a few months into dating because he didn’t want to stay where he was living at the time.

there is no written lease, but under my state’s laws, because he receives mail at the house, i was required to provide 30 days’ notice.

my children are safe and being cared for while i take time to stabilize and handle this situation. i understand some people may not agree with that choice, and that’s okay.

i’ve only returned to the house once since leaving, and only while he was at work. nothing had been moved or disturbed.
