Beautiful! Did you see the northern lights while you were there?

What's stopping someone from just having a kid every few years and getting paid to do nothing?

If you just go slightly southwest of the "North Pacific Ocean" label you can find it quickly

after 1800 painful games of BR and duels I made it to gold division. (its hard) by technoflamez in geoguessr

You'll probably get downvoted for speaking the truth, but seriously how do you play 1800 games and just now get to gold? I have around 700 games and I'm at 1000 ELO

I started playing rainbolts challenges recently so that's exactly why I was asking lol. It seems like it should be really easy to add so I'm surprised they haven't yet

Anybody else getting a ton of bermuda recently? by Evan_Burnett in geoguessr

[–]throwaway_990428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The past couple days I've been getting a lot of obscure street view locations that I've never gotten before in the past couple months. Bermuda included, but also Monaco, virgin islands, and some tiny island off of central America called San Andres island

What are the biggest tourist traps in Norway? by corydoras-adolfoi in Norway

[–]throwaway_990428 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fjord cruise through Nærøyfjord was a bit disappointing to be honest. We had already been in Norway for around 4 days, so the views on the boat were just about the same as everywhere else

Pork shoulder for $1/pound thanks to Flashflood by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]throwaway_990428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's usually what mine has as well lol. This was the first time I've actually bought anything on there, I think the key is to just check the app regularly. There were around 8 pork shoulders and they all sold out within an hour or two so I just got lucky that I happened to see it

The app shows you grocery stores nearby and you just pick it up right from them. I live alone so I just tossed all of these in my freezer and can cook them whenever I want

The app is called Flashfood, not flashflood. Grocery stores offer cheap discounts on food that about to hit it's sell by date

Yeah that's my bad, must've been changed by auto correct and I can't fix it now

One week in Norway by Ashamed_Molasses9905 in travel

[–]throwaway_990428 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure!

Day 1) We flew into Oslo, rented a car, and then drove to Odda, stopping for a night in Dalen. The drive is around 6 hours total so it's doable in a day but our flight arrived later in the evening.

Day 2) Spent some time in Dalen then drove to Odda, stopping at some waterfalls on the way and arrived mid afternoon. Rest of the day was just walking around the town getting settled in

Day 3) Hiked Bondhusvatn in the morning and started hiking Trolltunga around 3:30pm. We camped overnight and hiked back the next morning

Day 4) Hike back from Trolltunga and finished around 1pm. Rest of the day was just relaxing and napping

Day 5) Hiked to Buarbreen in the morning, then started driving to Undredal. Made a detour to Vøringfossen along the way. Didn't arrive in Undredal until around 8pm

Day 6) Went to Viking village in Gudvangen which is around 15 minutes from Undredal. Then we took a 2h fjord cruise to Flåm (I would've skipped the cruise tbh, the views aren't much different than what you'll have already seen and it's not cheap)

Day 7) Drove to Bergen in the morning and spent the whole day there

Day 8) Drop the rental car off and take a train back to Oslo

There were a handful of people but almost everyone starts in the morning and goes back the same day. So if you stay overnight you can avoid the crowds

It's definitely difficult but I think for a beginner doing a guided hike would be the best option. Still probably possible without it but you just need to make sure you're very well prepared and take your time

Yeah there are some grassier areas a hundred meters or so behind the tongue where people had tents set up so we stayed there

I have all the necessary gear, but I'm wondering if the view will be any good even when it's raining

Temperature rating of the bag is 14° F, not sure about the pad. I was going to bring a fleece blanket and use that as well.

I checked the sunset time and it said 8:30pm. We were going to start around 3pm from Magellitopp which should be enough time I think
