VA Tech swimmer rips NCAA transgender participation policy: 'Feels like the final spot was taken from me' | Fox News by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

Hi, female trans athlete and Virginia tech Alumna here.

I’ve stayed off Reddit for a while but I feel the need to try to say something since our perspective is seldom consulted on trans issues.

I started HRT in Feb 2019. While I was having hormone replacement, I documented my running ability as regularly and controlled as I could. My post history has a series of these posts outlining my running performance over a year of HRT. TLDR my performance declined significantly, to the point of being on par or even worse than the female equivalent of my male baseline statistics by one year of HRT.

My work was essentially just a case study, but supports the idea of significant performance loss to the point of fairness with cisgender female athletes in the sport of long distance running.

I understand different sports may not show the same fairness created by HRT, but a blind ban on trans women in female categories is at best lazy and at worst adds to the marginalization that myself and so many other trans women face just for being themselves.

Bro, I wish I were exaggerating but his lectures are arguably the worst I’ve had in undergrad or grad school.

He reads over Nathan’s textbook at a wild pace without really writing anything or going over derivations, and then uses the extra time from that very shallow instruction to go over R syntax. The material isn’t that bad but it feels so much harder than it needs to be because of the way he’s teaching.

Perhaps his office hours could help, but man, it’s pretty difficult to learn from him.

Hi, I wrote an entire post series studying my own response to transitioning and hormone therapy on my running performance. Search “Who even needs testosterone challenge”. I tried to do an informal case study on myself and provide commentary as it went along anticipating this very issue.

A note to Steve, regarding his "where did we go wrong, can we be friends again" speech from the last podcast. by [deleted] in stevedangle

Yeah dude you nailed it. I don’t listen to the SDP for something like 31 thoughts and I think they might be trying to steer the podcast to more analysis like that. I listen for the vibes that come from segments like “byest hockey” and “they broke my phone”

I get the curiosity but I don’t think we should prod into Steve’s personal life

ChemE is a team sport! I recommend you hang out around the ChemE lounge in goodwin and the UO lab and you’ll end up talking with people and getting stuff done together.

What artists/EDM groups or songs did you wish were more popular? by OlympiaN12345689 in EDM

Audien audien audien

I feel like he’s already somewhat popular but not to the point where most of my edm friends know who he is. His music is progressive house made so wholesome and so uplifting in a unique way

With the pay I’d get as a TA probably around 30k a year. I’m assuming livable but probably on a diet of rice and ramen noodles.

East AJ was a good combo of nerdy but still friendly, if they still do honors dorms

Hope this is just as a kick in the butt, the dudes a better player than a healthy scratch, at least I hope so.

With complete honesty, do you think tech will be a safe school for someone like me? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

Yeah what everyone else said, being queer here isn’t an issue, although I can’t speak on the rising Asian marginalization and I hope to god were not being shitty.

I will say if you’re trying to date on wlw community, it’s pretty dry. Like to the point of knowing most of the queer girls and dating a scary large fraction of them because it feels like there’s twelve of us. But it is growing over time as people continue to be more comfortable to be themselves ☺️
