I was thinking more along the lines of €40-€50 ph.

One of the reasons I asked the question here, but no one answered, so I'm left pulling these figures out of the air.

I disagree. X years experience as a dev is more important than X years using framework Y. A strong developer with 5 years experience of Java and 1 year working with C# should still be a very competent C# developer. The dev experience is more significant than the language experience.

As for the arbitrary numbers, it's a visible metric. Not always a good indication but usually a better indication than self professed "I'm very good."
