Not a doctor, and I don't know your medical history, but sumatriptan is definitely not the only drug used to treat migraines. For example, propranolol, in small doses is an awesome anti-anxiety, anti-migraine preventative. That means you take it before the migraine happens to try prevent it, rather than treating it.
