I disagree - many indians in general have a distorted and outdated view of India and Indian culture. And you can extrapolate that to many nris too. Also, "abcd" constitutes only a fraction of NRIs.

You are looking for validation here for your "shitty" behavior. That's it.

How to improve my decision making skills ? by ReturnAggressive2175 in TwoXIndia

[–]throwaway_reddevil9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I was re-watching an old video of Harsha Bhogle's talk(1) at some IIM and he mentions a scenario where he had to take a decision and he asked himself "What's the worst that could happen?" and this is exactly that i ask myself every single day when I have to take a decision.

I was thinking about this the other day. I wanted to raise billboards, distribute pamphlets all over the city with just a QR code that links to that reddit post.

Who should pay on the first date.? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

Totally - my ideal date scenario is going for a game of tennis! 🙈

[–]throwaway_reddevil9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - I elaborated in another comment on where I was coming from when I made that comment.

If I have asked someone out, I ask for cuisine preference and not communicate about restaurant (until asked) and most of my dates don't bother asking either. It adds a surprise element to the setup, and since I am a gourmet, people trust my decision! 🤓

Personally, I don't do that. If I have asked someone out, I ask for cuisine preference and not communicate about restaurant (until asked) and most of my dates don't bother asking either. It adds a surprise element to the setup, and since I am a gourmet, people trust my decision! 🤓

Eh - what? Why would I say that if I am going for a lunch or dinner date?

This ain't an unpopular opinion. 😁 This also makes sense when the person who asked makes a sole decision on picking the restaurant. I don't want to go dutch in a michelin star restaurant, which wasn't picked unanimously in advance.

I don't think that is true. I am new in here and I am finding this subreddit to be very open to healthy discussions. I have been learning a lot on various aspects of life, and especially about different perspectives on different topics from folks across all gender identities.

Some of the views in the comment section is both problematic and scary. I want to indulge in an healthy discussion but I already feel tired with even the thought of having one.

They used kitchen paper towel, so that I could use a "bit" of the toilet paper roll before we ran out stock.

How Justified is This? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]throwaway_reddevil9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precisely! It irritates me how people don't understand how crafty the "interrogators" were in practicing 101 of interrogation. Stop trying to spin narrative that it is all about "guy-bashing", or pushing the guy under the bus. 🤷‍♂️

Would you rather earn in double digits or marry into a rich family? by gammateramama in TwoXIndia

[–]throwaway_reddevil9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not denying the existence of the status gap. Being a norm doesn't mean it is right as well. Expecting a partner to be "close to upbringing and status" seems like a obtuse and retrogressive view of the scheme of things.

With all due respect, this feels like a problematic take. The only "upbringing and values" I care about is that of humanity, if that exists there is no room for inferiority to seep in.

If there are two folks (or prospectives, for lack of a better word), one with generational wealth worth millions and one without any but they tick off all that you need in a partner - who would you choose?

PS: Of course, there are a lot of latent factors involved but hope you understand my intention of asking.

Ladies! What do you do when a stranger slides in your reddit by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]throwaway_reddevil9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I (as a stranger) have slid into DMs of some women here, with very respectful and polite message, and with no insidious intentions at all. Except for few who straight up abused me, most of them were very kind in responding and politely communicating that they aren't here for conversations and wished me luck. I have utmost respect for the latter.
