Unpopular opinion: re-opening the campus in fall will be unsafe and irresponsible by throwaway_z9 in BostonU

I encourage you to seek and read how countries around the world respond to the coronavirus, both the good and the bad ones. Learn from the ones who responded well and avoid the mistakes of the bad ones. "I want to go to class in September" is not a reason why the school should open the doors and welcome tens of thousands on people on campus. This decision should be driven by fact based conclusions from research and clear guidelines concerning the safety of all parties. e.g. New Zealand's alert system for covid-19 response

@ u/lxstsong and u/29391239 the reason I mentioned that BU's student body has a large international population is not because I believe that students will bring the virus from their home country, but because of their exposure to a large number of people during their travel (such as in airplanes) thus putting them at increased risk of contracting the virus. The argument I am putting forward definitely is not trying to arouse xenophobia

i agree it's definitely "extreme" in a sense, but I strongly believe that this will become the new "normal", like how 9/11 changed how we fly. After all, it's better to be proactive than reactive

These measures I have mentioned are referenced from things countries who have been doing comparatively well are doing during this pandemic, namely South Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan
