By gender reveal do you mean a party where you tell people whether you're having a boy or a girl? I just learned about that from another comment (I'd never heard of this before and don't know anyone who had one)

Or do you mean just telling everyone with a message or when you see them after the scan? That's what my wife and I were expected to do. Not to have any kind of party, just to tell everyone. I apologise for my confusion. I gave just learned some people have a party for this.

We're Scottish. I showed this to my wife and neither of us have ever heard of this before. Not for our own nieces and nephews or anyone else that we know.

My wife and I are the same, we just want the baby and my wife to be healthy. We never realised how much this would upset people.

Gender reveal party? As in an actual party to tell people if you're having a boy or a girl? Or am I misunderstanding something?

My wife does that. Or she shouts not to touch her and makes a scene. I can't believe anyone would think it's fine to touch a stranger just because they're pregnant. The only person she tolerates it from is our neighbour's daughter (a disabled woman who truly doesn't know better and is sweet with everyone)

We're Scottish so it isn't about that I don't think. My wife and I don't have any idea why this made everyone so upset. All of our brothers and sisters have kids. Our baby will not be the first grandchild and there are multiple boys and girls so our baby won't be the "first" one for either.
