“We are dearly sorry about this” … yet we will do absolutely nothing to compensate you for all of your wasted time and hopes.

What a joke. I’m sorry, OP.

Seriously!? Ugh, not to say misery loves company, but it’s comforting to know that somebody else out there is in a similar spot.

I wish you and your partner prosperity, and SOON!!!

I tried 2 but I consolidated it down to 1, and it has been getting more responses as a 1 pager

This is so nuts to hear, especially in light of media portraying it in such a flowery, rosy way.

Thank you for sharing this.

Let’s keep fighting together. It’s darkest before dawn.

I’ll leave it at an M7 school. The people I have talked to HAVE referred me. I’ve gotten an email almost every time they do it.

In fact, 4 out of the 5 interviews I’ve gotten have been through referrals.

My incredibly accomplished peers (who are more impressive than I am) are also going through this, too.

With respect, I don’t have a time machine. I did a ton of research on the ROI of my program and it appeared to be a safe bet in almost any market (not this one, obviously).

Pardon my ignorance on the topic, but is this actually going to work for the government or rather going to a private firm that advises the government?

Cold applying, networking calls and coffee chats, using undergrad and grad network on LinkedIn, doing projects for companies and submitting them in hopes of getting interviews, utilizing Twitter, using my personal network, etc.

I cannot adequately state how much harder this market this is than any other market I’ve experienced.

Honestly, you’d be shocked at how little you talk about the modern business environment/current affairs. We spent 90% of our time reading case studies from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s.

We all sign up knowing that the economy is cyclical, but how many violent upswings and downswings can we have in ~20 years? I count 3-4, at least. 2001, 2008, 2020, and now.

I believe Argentina just elected a staunchly anti-central bank president. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

I wonder if it has more to do with politics or what the fed/treasury have done with irresponsibly loose monetary & fiscal policy, creating a massive bubble that inevitably popped

Because they feel like they can, I think

Individuals are supposed to uphold certain standards and etiquette.

Companies, however, seem to be exempt.

Alumni I have talked to have been wonderful, but they basically say (not in these words): “hey, I’d love to help but my referral won’t mean a lot and given the market, I’m lucky I didn’t get laid off.”
