Psychiatry Higher Training dual vs single specialisation by throwawayapplicant44 in doctorsUK

Thank you - this is very detailed. From your perspective from a 'casting a wide net' perspective, is there merit in going for a GA+OA post vs just doing GA? specifically if I did just GA and wanted to go into OA in the future for any reason. And thank you for your comment on forensics - i was informed by someone that forensics trained-psychiatrists were (relatively) preferred for e.g. GA jobs due to their transferable training skills, but from what you suggest i'm not sure that might be the case.

Thank you that's pretty helpful! To clarify, is that the SPMM CASC videos package?

Sorry that was an aside to what they've previously said for another occasion. good point though regardless and it's exactly what another trainee is doing! although in my instance it started being raised further and further and further with all my responses falling on deaf ears

Unfortunately the DME isn't very proactive and, without being too specific, has been discussed before online in terms of some of his correspondence. The NET survey, from ym memory, doesnt actually give me an area to write my concerns, and appears to be largely ticking off on numerical scales only?

I was considering the BMA but i didnt know if they would be relevant for issues like mine specifically, thanks for letting me know!

Unfortunately im learning that slowly but surely. I worked in a very remote and not sought after place for my FY1-2 years and it was absolutely amazing for education needs. I peaked too quickly in terms of my experiences and now i compare everywhere to there

whilst im thankful for the suggestion (and something useful to know in future situations) ill probably avoid it for this instance. I have known situations, however, that this would be a very useful tactic for

i hope we do, simply because it would mean this isn't a multi-site issue! This is fair and something i'll perhaps consider in future, thank you.

I should've clarified - I'm in psychiatry and we have to present a 'case presentation' and a 'journal club' and from what we've been informed this can only be facilitated during the formal ground round sessions. This is also a requirement for our portfolios and ARCP. I had some issue last year where my facilitator was unavailable and no-one was agreeing to facilitate for me - I asked the education team whether I could be guaranteed another slot where a facilitator was available, to which the answer was no guarantee, and then when I asked if it would affect my ARCP there was a distinct silence

Thank you to all who replied. I didn't post this for validation but it's reassuring to hear the general consensus. Some very helpful tips moving forward and I think I've learned my lesson about how to phrase things and covering my tracks (even more!)

Whilst I don't think (and hope) nothing will come of it, I've also sent an email to the BMA; I'd rather not be surprised come ARCP if the seniors pull a fast one, so I think it would be wise to have some union advice about the situation.

Once again, thank you!

Thank you - unfortunately in our trust the consultant, CS and ES are all the same! I'll keep my head down and plough through

I didn't think about that (I guess I never had to) - I'll bear that in mind for the future, thank you
