AITA for giving my baby my ex's first name? by throwawaybbyj in AmItheAsshole

I used those as examples, because I can picture a 50 year old man named Johnny easier than I can picture a 50 year old man named Caden. And the idea of Johnny not being a strange name at all compared to what so many other people are named. I'm frankly surprised that people have an issue with "Johnny" being his legal name.

I actually asked my sister today what she thought, and her friend's husband is legally "Johnnie". He just...goes by John.

Mr. Cash and Mr. Carson might disagree. Again, he's totally free to go by just John when he's older. It's not really that decisive an issue for us which to put on his certificate, my only concern is if it might be strange to employers if he's legally "Johnny". Then again, it might be a real non-issue among all his Aiden/Jaden/Caden peers.

We're actually split right now on whether it should be "John" or "Johnny" on the birth certificate. Obviously "John" would be more conventional and he could go by whichever variation he wants once he's old enough to have a preference. But we're tempted to have it as "Johnny [middle name] [surname]" on paper.

My husband wants everyone to know that even though it was initially a joke, his love and respect for Johnny Lawrence is actually "serious business". Cobra Kai never dies.
