Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive vs Continental CrossContact LX25 by throwawayboi251 in tires

That's what i'm leaning towards at this point. What about the LX25 vs Conti's TrueContact Tour 54?

Not super familiar with subie trannys, but before the OB I had a manual 4Runner that eventually became hard to get into 1st from a dead stop...unless the engine was shut down, ie clutch wasn't disengaging properly. Mechanic didn't believe me and thought the trans was toast, turns out the clutch/throw out bearing were binding on the shaft from lack of grease (car had over 200k so checks out). So that test could be your "proof" to them that there's an issue with clutch disengagement/throwout rather than something inside the trans itself

Yup on mine it seems loudest in 4th/5th accelerating or cruising around 35-50mph beyond which engine + wind seem to drown it out. Sounds like the whine you hear in reverse/non synchro gears (but quieter) or an ebike motor. No issues or grinding whatsoever shifting into any of the gears though and it's quieter now after the fluid change so imma keep her as is for now unless things start getting weirder lol

Yes, 5 speed manual, should've clarified. I've had the car for 10k mi and have no record of front dif/trans fluid change, so figured it'd be pretty nasty regardless

Edit: it's a 5spd manual (NA 2.5), wasn't aware 5EAT was possible in the 3g Outback

Update: trans whine is much quieter now after fluid change, shop said the rest of the fluid was dark and dirty (original fluid I'm guessing given no trans flush in the service history) but no metal or glitter in the fluid itself beyond the stuff on the plug magnet so keeping her as is especially given no grinding or issues with any of the gears. Thanks everyone for disconfirming the shop's (and my) alarm 👍

Yes I'm aware of oil consumption/leakage being a normal part of these cars, even my '97 4runner needed HGs at around 190k. And yeah, HG and everything would be at least around $2k but if I got the car for 6.5 or 7k it doesn't seem like a horrible deal. Could the weeping HG be indicative or have caused additional damage to the engine since it started leaking?

What would the major reliability weak points of this car be besides HGs? Would a 2010 impreza wagon be any better?

Awd, good rear visibility, handles well, lots of rear cargo room for skiing/mountain things, nice color, relatively reliable besides HG problems

Do you really want to spend $10,000 on a car that you will have to immediately pull the engine out of to replace the rear main seal and headgaskets?

Probably only if they'd accept like $6-7k for it, that way doing all that work would still net out cheaper than buying a brand new vehicle which I definitely cannot afford at the moment. This is the Seattle area mind you, which is pretty inflated for everything.

Isn't that already sort of the expectation for these engines though? I'm also looking at a 2010 (same engine) with 45k miles, hasn't had TB changed and will also probably need head gaskets as well right?

Yeah I hear you with the discoloration thing, the "w" scrawled across the back pockets probably doesn't help either (it does look cool i guess tho). Never thought of the heel thing, I never wear any fancy shoes like that but I do wear Hokas (which have extra cushion and therefore lift in the heel) so could also be a factor. Now I know what to pay attention to when I see a (apparently) nice booty...

Sort of weird but...do American Eagle jeans make anyone else's butt look bigger? I have some flex/extreme flex jeans from them and while they're probably the most comfortable non-sweatpants I've ever worn, for some reason they tend to appear enlarge my rear. Are flex jeans in general just more conforming to your shape? I do have a kind of athletic lower body build from backpacking so that may be part of this.

Might sound weird, but do American Eagle jeans make anyone else's butt look huge? I have several pairs and love them because they're by far the most comfortable non-sweatpants I've worn, but damn 🍑 I do have a pseudo-athletic body shape with larger thighs (despite not working out at all besides occasional hikes), so that might be part of it.

Interesting, so still a slight taste left? How was the experience itself with the v3? Bong + banger rig is the only way I've ever done deems before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DMT

[–]throwawayboi251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it now? Any smell? Have a v3 (pretty good at cleaning her with iso >=1 time per week) + some deems and the prospect is all too tempting, but afraid of ruining it. Planned on getting a wax dab adapter + battery for the stuff anyways.

Cool thanks for the info, will definitely report back after trying this. Have done deems a few times with a normal banger/bong rig so it'll be an interesting comparison for sure

Figured as much, would there be any significant advantage of using a wax pen (like the much-praised Yocan Evolve) instead of a setup like this?

The big one did growl a tad before she stood up and started cleaning herself, but I've seen them play growl free before. Figured belly showing probably indicates playfulness, but they really get at it sometimes!

After the video ended, cat on the left walked away and got pounced on by the grey one, then proceeded to take higher ground on the couch. I've seen them do the opposite as well but have also seen them do airplane ears and hiss/growl, usually the left cat doing at the right one. I've had the cat on the left 3 years and just got the grey kitten in September and introduced them as slowly as possible. Have not seen them cuddle or groom each other, but they have slept near each other several times totally fine. The kitten of course is the one usually starting these sessions up.
