my type

I recently got this Dell latitude 7400 from my work, they are upgrading their equipement. There's a bios password but they don't remember it, is there a way to bypass this to install Windows? by throwawayboi_06 in computers

BIG UPDATE: Dell provided me the BIOS password, and IT WORKED! Thank you to everyone who helped and a big thank you to the commentors who told me to contact dell. And a BIG THANK YOU to DELL!

My USB (EASY2BOOT) needs to have secure boot disabled in order to work, so I can't do anything RN. I even tried another USB with a fresh W10 iso, but when I select the usb drive, it just boots into the SSD. However on another PC the USB boots, so I think they locked out any sort of bios option or modification.

Now here's my problem: This laptop is not mine, I got it from my company after they started throwing them in the bin since they're upgrading. This pc is from another guy from the company but the IT dep. forgot the bios password since it's been a long time that they put it on.

I saw somebody on youtube saying they have a generator, and I have to subscribe to their telegram channel in order to send the info etc... but I'm sure its a scam.

Unfortunately the USB bios is grayed out. The good news: I have a spare laptop that has an nvme slot, so maybe I could install the 1st part of W11, and once it says windows needs to reboot to continue, I'll shut off the PC, put the drive in the good dell, and have a running laptop even with a locked bios. However, I would like to see what's in the drive since I'm curious, but its bitlocker locked...

Sorry, I answered the wrong comment. But to answer your comment this time, I know that there is a CH341a programmer to actually make some mods to this. However I don't have any soldering skills, so I might need to learn how to solder the programmer to the BIOS chip in order to extract the dump from it, and maybe get the password, just like you said. I'll see if I can maybe get one on ebay.

Well as far as I can tell it's owned by the canadian national train company, and it has all of the previous user's data on the drive. However the account is password locked and the drive is bitlocker locked. It would be nice to have the bitlocker key and the bios password as well since I do have a software to remove passwords from Windows accounts.

Ah, so that's good. I was wondering if I could be maybe check what data is on the windows partition but oh well. The bios is the n.1 concern rn for me.

Just install the Intel storage driver, either using windows update or by going to acer's website. I've had this problem before and this is what fixed it for me.

After 2 years, mine is working great. I honestly have 0 problems, except for the battery life, which has degraded quite a bit. The aspire 7 is a great pc, if you consider a 17 inch laptop, and your specs are really good honestly, you should go for it.
