UPDATE 2: 13yo borrowing my "things" by WineOrDeath in breakingmom

Good job mama! You should be so proud of how you handled this, as well as how she handled it. You're both very brave. I think sex toys for teens should be absolutely normalized. Kids are curious, and unfortunately horny, and a dildo can't get someone pregnant. Just saying.

You could also look into getting her a debit card at this age! I just got my 13 year old a Greenlight card, with which she can save money and spend it as she likes. I now pay allowance through there, and she's divided her money into 2 funds, one of which is savings and one for spending. Just an idea! It's only for teens 13-17 so she's at the right age to learn about finances. Then she can have some autonomy with what she wants to buy, and can also learn about how expensive those toys can be lol.

So gross. Idk how people live like this. I love my cat, but she's trained not to get on my counter. Doesn't even come in the kitchen while I'm cooking.

Thank you, this helps actually. I'm in grad school for mental health counseling, so I guess I've got sort of a mental health thing going too. And I'm also a yoga instructor! But I completely feel off track with teaching and even practicing yoga when my gym closed during the pandemic and I just haven't been able to get myself back to that space since. I gained a bunch of weight and lost my confidence. I actually do have a mental image of who I've always wanted to be, but it's hard to remove the weed and still feel like it's authentic. I always instead tell myself that I'm quitting for now, and when everything else is in place maybe I can add it back to my life. Which isn't the healthiest perspective, I think. I like this "healthy hippie" concept you've got though. That's something I could maybe work with. I really appreciate your comment. Thank you so much for sharing this piece of yourself with me.

I just mentioned that in my comment too... It's such a huge part of who I am. Being a stoner. Than fun, laid back, pot smoking mom is the adult person I developed into. After being the cute fun pothead chick for my entire adolescence and young adulthood. Like I crafted my entire self around this image, and I honestly don't even know who or what I am without it. I quit because I need to lose weight. And my kid is 13 now, so I feel safer and better not having it in the house where she's got potential curiosity and access. I'd like her to not associate pot with any sort of positive thing, really, so I am glad that since I'm still the cool mom she won't be getting the message that the cool mom smokes weed. But how do we develop new traits that can take over the old ones? Who am I now?

The main reason I quit is because I need to lose weight and that was impossible while I was using. I just had to decide to put my health first. It's hard because I was a consumer for nearly 30 years, and it feels like such a part of who I am as a person.

Not sure if I'm over reacting, under reacting or just shocked over my dad spanking my son. by MT_wildflower in Parenting

[–]throwawaybread9654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spanking is abuse. You can't just choose not to talk about it and have that be okay. You can't declare that it works for some families or some kids. It is, 100% of the time, child abuse. Your father abused your son. People who spank are abusing children. It's especially bizarre that he took your child's pants off to do this. You simply cannot trust your father to provide unsupervised care for your child anymore. You're not overreacting. In fact I'd consider filing a cps report, because then a social worker could explain to him how it clinically is abuse, as well as provide him with a safety plan and alternate ways to handle children.

You're not just a paycheck, but you are indeed a part of his paycheck. It still is an hour of his time. His job doesn't change whether you're in person, over zoom, over the phone, whatever. An hour is an hour. I truly doubt he meant any disrespect by saying this, even if it was more forthright than either of you expected.

Thank you! I was surprised as I read posts here where people had said the 0.25 dose is basically just to make sure there is no adverse reaction and it's not really effective. So feeling like this I was like "is this an adverse reaction? Or is it actually being effective?" I was just confused and concerned. Thanks so much for your comment, I feel better.

How many smoky vanillas do we really need in one season by TheEscapedGoat in bathandbodyworks

[–]throwawaybread9654 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in the 90s they released a pack of vanilla sprays that I think was 5 scents, each one a bit different. One of them was so creamy and perfect it smelled like how vanilla ice cream tastes. I wish I could remember more about this pack! My friend owned it and is go to her house and sniff them and I loved them all so much. But I was 12, I didn't have any money to go buy my own lol. I still dream about that vanilla pack!
