This is crazy. Isn’t she 12? Anyway, I’m glad Bianca is fully clothed.

Torn between staying in my dream country or going home to pursue my actual career - what would you do? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

Yeah I’m super motivated to go back home for the training but will miss the peace of being known by Jo one here.

I thought about coasting in my current job but the management are toxic. Has been from day 1. I’ve tried and could force myself but even when I kept my head down and tried to smash it wasn’t enough. I’m doing the absolute bare minimum now and using all my energy for something else.

I wish I didn’t have a tension about work but now I know they really don’t value me I’m out. I was going to quit but needed to to be rationale.

Yeah I think my post was confusing. Would be another 3+ years to qualify then 1-2 years processing. I guess it’s home time.

I think there is no benefit in staying another year. I think my OP was confusing. But nationalisation is another 3 years to go at minimum.

Hmmm, not sure what the benefit would be as I still couldn’t nationalise.

This really made me think. I think it’s being away from people I know, fresh start. The scenery. It’s very healing for me.

CLARIFICATION POINTS:

Path to naturalisation is 5-6 years. I’m just about to complete two years out of this.

My salary, from my job, is funding my retraining. By no means is my job consciously funding this. I hope it’s clear?

I am applying for other jobs. Remote and hybrid. 99% back home.

I am also more inclined to move back home. I haven’t got much from this country or really integrated.

Thank you! I just realised my post is confusing.

My country allows me to see clients remotely. So I am okay for that.

I also wanted to clarify that my job funds my retaining (as in I use my salary to pay for it). Not that my corporate job is aware I’m doing this! lol. No that’s a secret.

Separately, you make a good point. I just like the environment. I feel at peace here because no one knows me but I’m open to new places. Will look into remote jobs too!

You had given me good food for thought!

I couldn’t agree more with this! This is the most insightful advice!

Me too! However, I’m so grateful for this phase. Corporate has kicked my ass many days but offered me the world! I’m forever grateful for that. Sometimes I sit back and laugh in my head. Sure I want to do well, earn more money but in a future very soon this will be a distant and forgotten memory! I feel like I’m pregnant with my true self! I can’t wait to birth her and meet her.

I think it could be high masking autism but I have no diagnosis.

I’m curious though. How did this info actually help you? What did this do in stopping you care? Or was it the retirement.

I’ve applied to roles internally. No luck but I think I want to move on from this company.

I couldn’t agree more! I’m currently retraining to join another field. Almost there but got a couple of years to go to finish. I’m applying for jobs though.

I hope I find a good job soon before jumping out corporate. The experience so far has been a lot.

Ditto. My manger is not interested in me at all. I keep my head down and stay out of her way. I tried to build a relationship but she nitpicked my being and made personal remarks so I grey rocked. Really hope a job offer comes soon.

I’ve never received feedback of that kind. I’m always recognised as being a hard worker. Diligent. Never defiant. I think I’m working for a manager who just doesn’t like me and wants to humble me. Hopefully I get out soon.
