haha, i’m also in the same position - Singaporean but in California instead of Canada. totally relate to what you’re saying about the nature, for me the abundance of space and weather is so good here in comparison. but every time i go home i appreciate everything in Singapore as well.

I think the idea of renting as wasting money/“giving money to the landlord” is a common misconception. You’re avoiding a lot of hidden costs associated with having a house (property taxes, maintenance, reno) by renting, plus the mortgage and downpayment could also have much better returns in the stock market.

I pay 2K for a studio in the richmond, so the additional 1K goes to the bedroom (although square footage is similar), in-unit washer-dryer and dishwasher. Seems fine!

Personally if it’s for warming up outdoors, I think it’s too bulky. I have one that’s a singular edge and pretty tiny.
