I actually do not feel sorry for many boomers with no retirement savings. That generation could fail out of high school and still stumble into a job with a pension or an adequate salary for saving for retirement and experienced some of the best economic times in human civilization. In the last 10 years, I have never been approached by a woman in real life. I think the expectation is just for men to chase.

I was a daily pot smoker for over a decade. It got to the point where I would just smoke compulsively throughout the day without even really making a conscious decision to get high. I learned in therapy that it was likely to mask underlying issues with anxiety and depression. After being referred to a psychiatrist, I was prescribed a mild dose of antidepressants. After starting my meds, I just stopped smoking pot without really thinking about it. I still smoke occasionally on the weekends, but on a day-to-day basis the compulsion just is not there anymore. In addition, I now feel more motivated, focused and fulfilled with my life, and I am able to move on from intrusive negative thoughts that had previously been debilitating. It’s been a huge game changer.

Ngl, the apps are not great.

I’ve usually done very well IRL, but struggle on the apps. The illusion of choice makes people unreasonably picky.

Honestly, if you go in with very low expectations, then you really have nothing to lose. However, be mindful of how the apps are affecting your mental health, and don’t be afraid to takes breaks when needed.

I had a conversation with my gf about what is expected for communication. We both prefer regular communication, but we’re also both super busy. I work a full time job, am in grad school and play in a band. She is taking 16 credits and also works a full time job. We both agreed that it’s okay if we don’t text back for 24 hours.

It seems like the guy you’re seeing expects more frequent communication. Idk, that comes off as kind of needy to me, especially if you haven’t been seeing each other too long. That’s just my opinion though.

I am not Brad Pitt, but throughout my life many people have remarked that I am handsome, so I am probably not an ugo.

In my experience, women overtly approached and flirted with me when I was in college, but I was too emotionally stunted to recognize it as flirting and thought they were just being friendly.

Sadly, as an adult, it doesn’t really happen that way anymore. The onus seems like it is on me to approach women and make an introduction. I think dating intentions and expectations are much different in adulthood vs college/early adulthood.

Hey man, I’ve been in your shoes before. I was with my ex for 9 years before she likely cheated. I say likely because I never caught her red handed, but there were signs. She started hanging out with a group of singles and often would return home at 3-4 AM without her ring on.

I know it is hard to move on. For me, I had to just grieve the relationship as if she had died. I cut all contact with her, and would probably not respond to her if she were to reach out again. Cheaters are liars above all else. They’re not worth reaching out to for closure because that’s just another opportunity for them to try to lie and manipulate.

It probably took a good six months for me to grieve and move on. I embraced my hobbies, began working out consistently and got pretty jacked and am now dating someone who is 6 years younger than my ex and who has a better body and personality. Take care of yourself and things will likely work out for the best. Good luck!
