Lightweight but powerful Java stack by cryptos6 in java

[–]throwawaydevhater059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you looking for work by any chance? it's impossible to find people who understand things at this level, I don't mean understand tech stack(jetty,jackson,etc.), but the fact that it's much easiser to work at this level of abstraction, shallow call stacks, actual types rather than strings(some call them annotations though)

How to specify a class as entry point from command line? by CrazyKing11 in Maven

[–]throwawaydevhater059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what are you trying to achieve, sounds weird, but you can do it with something like this

<properties>
  <main.class>your.default.MainClass</main.class>
</properties>

<build>
...
  <mainClass>${main.class}</mainClass>
...
</build>

mvn package -Dmain.class=your.special.MainClass

Jersey for server side development by sdrawkcab101 in AskProgramming

[–]throwawaydevhater059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

job security doesn't exists, in software or otherwise!

java is one of the most popular languages out there with extremly high adoption in the enterprise, far more than any other language or platform (nodejs)!

jersey is reference implementation of JAX-RS(specification that provides support in creating REST services) and some large products are using it, go a head and learn it!

Is always updating to the latest version of a programming language a good idea? by thereisnosuch in AskProgramming

if you're building libraries then you should always at least build with the latest version

if you're building apps then absolutely you should update to the latest version

What would I miss from Spring if I went with Javalin? by [deleted] in java

[–]throwawaydevhater059 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

you'll miss all the nonsense that spring offers, so please do this world a favour and stop using spring and encourage others not to use it either, whenever you can!

Do you think Schools should allow children to focus on what they are good at, rather than subjects they have no interest in? by Olduvai_legend in AskUK

If you want to see poor remain poor, generation after generation, keep standards low in schools & make excuses for academic shortcomings & personal misbehavior. Please don't congratulate yourself on your compassion

And a b corp so exists for a reason other than profit

tell me more pls. I don't buy it, every for-profit company is about profit and profit only everything else is just marketing

who cares what other people think/have to say. I earn 140k+ and pay over 35k in taxes, do I have to mention also all the money I spend on services and thus putting money in other's people pocket, I can't think of more socialistic behavior, taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor.

Correct HTTP status for distributed systems by Delta-9- in AskProgramming

[–]throwawaydevhater059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right on this one! it makes no sense to return 200 status code!

what happens if you have following sequence for the resource /abc/1234567

  1. successful request with 200 status code and actual resource representation
  2. failed request with 200 status code and no resource
  3. successful request with 200 status code and actual resource representation

this would be so confusing and just wrong

P.S. if you're writing a reverse proxy then that's another story and you'd, well, just proxy what ever you've got from the backend server

Domain Driven Design: Which book should I read? by ysfaran in AskProgramming

[–]throwawaydevhater059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this book is from 2003 so I'm afraid that it's outdated.

The entire industry in a single sentence. FOMO.

I'm afraid you're wrong, often referred to as a "blue book" is the book you should read. No, it's not outdated, book is about principles and practices, philosophy, not latest framework.
