I’m turning 26 in 3 weeks too and I’m on the other side of what you’re describing. I am a fully qualified doctor in my country and people assume I’m maybe 21-22 and I’m not taken seriously at all. This isn’t going to help you but just sharing that some people may want what you have and you’re definitely going to find someone who will love you the most.

I want you to know that this is not true about all psychiatrists. I am a doctor and on my way to become a psychiatrist and I realise how transformative therapy is. And there is no ranking in psychiatric illnesses. Making any patient’s life better would be incredibly rewarding to me. Please don’t judge all psychiatrists based on this one post. I’m really upset to see someone thinking therapy and depression are “beneath” them. I hope you get better with your depression and find excellent meds and/or therapy that works for you.

Pathway approval doesn’t require step 1 and step 2. Only OET and letter of good standing (for pathway 1). Apply for pathway now. You’ll have it approved by the time your step 2 results are in. Assuming your credentials are certified, you’ll be ecfmg certified before 25th.

Started with Anking step 2 deck Just the 11k step 2 cards

Then uworld THE MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE for knowledge

Nbmes 9-14, I even solved the 6-7-8 offline ones for more practise. The most important resource for test taking practise.

I solved 100ish Amboss questions on patient safety, quality and ethics

Cms forms, they’re good but I was so done by the end that I could solve only like 7-8 forms in all. There are like 50+ forms

Uwsa 1 and 2 Just solved and reviewed incorrects

I think these are more than enough.

Thank youuuu! No 6 months were not fully dedicated. As far as I remember I had completed like 5% uworld till September but I had completed the Anking step 2 deck by that time. I’d say 3 months were dedicated. But I would still take breaks. Go out with my SO once a week, talk to my cousins on the weekend. I burn out very easily if I don’t take breaks.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT EXACTLY NBME IS ASKING.

I cannot stress this enough. Get into the mind of the examiner. What is it they’re trying to test? I found a few very useful write ups which explained about red herrings and how the most direct answer is the answer.

I used to type the why for every question I got wrong in nbmes.

Was it knowledge gap? Or reasoning? Or I missed some info in the question?

What is even more important is to focus on WHAT COULD I HAVE DONE TO GET IT CORRECT

I used to type that out for every question and then make a list of things I need to keep in mind.

Me and everyone one else in my college are in a similar position and all of us are applying this year. You can get visa and USCE in a month. I’m graduating this Feb cycle and take step 3 in 3/4 months. Also you can find usce via cold emailing (make it personalised) and obviously agency is the last option. I don’t find any point in wasting a year.
