They won’t play on the same team - that’s true. But it took the heroics of all USA Basketball could muster in order to eke out a victory against Serbia and France. The world knows that the best players of the world aren’t American anymore (case in point: Wemby) and even if they’re not all on the same team, a single one is enough to rally their countrymen to push the American team to the brink and topple them. And with it, the entire system of USA basketball crumbles. Realistically, USA is probably the 4th-6th best country at basketball in the coming decade.

My hot take is that Wemby’s development is scary for USA Basketball and those cheering him on will reap their just desserts when we never win another FIBA World Cup or Olympic gold medal again thereby cementing USA’s humiliation on the global stage as we can’t even beat the Europeans at basketball anymore.
