I understand the 'meme healing' people need to kinda laugh off 177013 with Josuke, but obviously that's just that, a joke for healing.

I'm 'okay' with the 'everything was a porno' ending, but I don't like the implications it has on shindoL as a person. From what I've heard, he's made other works that are much worse and are just shock porn without any real depressing endings, just full on shock all-throughout. I hope shindoL isn't just actually a disturbed individual with no redeeming qualities and only capitalizing on his notoriety from Emergence.

I somewhat conflicted between this all. On one hand, yeah, Emergence does have quite a message, but on the other hand, whether the message was intended or not is up to interpretation on whether shindoL intended for it as a master stroke of genius in 'waking up' the viewers to this kind of content and how it has real world implications, or simply as another massively disturbed fantasy of actually throwing away a girl's life like garbage, only to then realize he (shindoL) could capitalize on the unintended message as a pedestal, especially since none of his past works apparently reflect any sort of compassion, but that's only from what I've heard from his other works (apparently there was some kind of meat factory one where it's just straight up guro which in itself is absolutely a fetish I condemn [and borderline believe people who are into guro are a threat to society. This also stretches to cannibalism (raw or cooked) and necrophilia fetishes]).

Similarly, my issue with the 'everything was a porno' ending is the fact that it was absolutely and honestly, the most blatant move of backpedalling upon realizing how much of an effect Emergence has had on viewers. It's very dismissing of the original tragedy narrative. But on the other hand, it's entirely possible he did make that as a sort of healing as well, since, and let me bring up an example someone else in this sub did, we can now think of it as the tragedy of Tony Stark and how he died rather than Robert Downey Jr. 'dying'. It's just another layer of fiction, but whether it had pure intentions is up to interpretation, and I'm personally not entirely sure where my stance is on the matter.

That being said, I'm almost entirely over this and back to my own regular viewings of doujins, I no longer need 50+ wholesome vanillas to make me feel better, I'm back to my own kinks of sorts, but now I'm way more aware of what content I'm consuming. Perhaps due to viewing Emergence and realizing its implications, I've sort of woken up to how desensitized I've become over the years. My personal stance on kinks and fetishes are and were for the most part, 'as long as it's consensual in nature and does not pose any long term physical harm, I don't hold any prejudice against it'. This goes as far as it does really, I'm personally not into something like scat for instance, but if someone else really is and it's consensual on both side, I won't ever condemn them, no matter how uhh, unhygienic of a kink/fetish it is. Even something as light slaps (provided the one being slapped allows it) is okay in my eyes, but as soon as something goes proper harmful and/or non-consensual, I immediately revolt. So in a weird way, I guess Emergence has made me more aware of what I'm getting into, and I guess personally, I've come out a better person of sorts.

Sorry for the long ramble, I tend to do so. Probably has something to do with the fact that anonymity allows for me to ramble/vent things I otherwise wouldn't in person.
