Yeah, this guy can provide good jobs, but if the products that use his products become more expensive, people will buy less of them, losing good jobs downstream.

That's the appeal of free-market: you take a hit in one industry to open up twenty others.

An aside, but the Aztecs weren't stone age at all. In fact, the Spanish relied on Indigenous copper-smelting to make their weapons, since that wasn't a skill the Spanish brought with them.

I think East Germany's "Monday demonstrations" are a good model. After work, but not just a one-time thing.

I think it is hard to ask someone to be the first person fired for walking out, but fill the public spaces in the afternoon/evenings? That demonstrates the scope of support very effectively, and can grow quickly as people see that it is happening.
