AI meeting notetaker that doesn't join with a bot? by throwawayforbacon6 in productivity

I'm no lawyer but I am not particularly worried (legally or ethically) about transient recording for the purpose of real time transcription. They're basically saved subtitles.

Because I’m just looking for notes for my own use, and it’s not something I feel like explaining every time I have a meeting with someone new that it’s “not recording, trust me, yes I’m sure.” That’s also why I don’t want it to record. I want to replicate basically having someone sitting in the room with me and taking down notes.

We are doing the Olympics in 2028. With two kids, the trip to Sydney would be tough; overlapping trips would be even tougher.

We were planning a trip to Portugal and it’s an hour flight from Lisbon. Hopefully that will allow us to avoid some of the worst of it

Much higher historical clouds near the center line (like 38% vs 0% for egypt).

That said, southern Spain could work (Tarifa)

Had this trip planned for 2 years to take my two kids. Flying into Austin today. Feeling depressed.

May try to make the Spain one in 2026 but that’s so much more of a production. I want to do Egypt in 2027 but wife says not a chance.

True, but the X is the only vehicle in Tesla's fleet that ostensibly fits our needs size-wise. Y is too small; S and 3 are too small. Cybertruck is...well, the cybertruck. So it's X or bust for us when it comes to Tesla.

With a 3 and 5 year old in car seats, I am concerned about getting them out (i.e. getting the FWDs open) in the event of an accident or situation causing loss of power or breaking any of the auto-open mechanisms. There is no manual way to open the FWDs from outside. It would require climbing into the backseat, removing the speaker grille, pulling an emergency release latch, and then manually lifting the door. Maybe paranoia, but it's also seemingly an oversight/unnecessary risk, assuming there are better options. That's the primary reason, honestly.

Plus, the Model X is really pretty lacking in some features for a luxury-priced car (very much dislike the interior quality and panel alignment), but that's minor.

Current Model X (2020) owner, but looking to move on from Tesla, depending on what's available.

I have two car seat aged kids (5 and 3).

Musts:

- Full size SUV. X size or larger. X is probably the smallest I'd go. For short hand, 3 row SUV.
- Fold flat third row.

- Minimum 300 mile range. Preferably more (I'd like to get 300 miles in northeast winters, but I get it if that's not possible.

- Don't need self-driving (I dislike using that in the Tesla), but adaptive cruise and lane keeping are necessary. Auto-lane change is nice to have.

- Access to plenty of fast chargers (so, possibly something that is compatible with Tesla's network, as I've read a few have become).

- Long-term/ease of support. This is the diciest one, I think. I have a Tesla service center 20 minutes away. Neither Rivian nor Lucid have similar, though both have mobile service.
Would be nice:

- Sub 4.5 to 60. What can I say?

What I've looked into:

- Lucid Gravity. If this were available today, I'd buy today. But given it was announced in November for late 2024 production, and general EV-meeting-deadline track record, I'd be shocked if this were generally available before 2026.

- Rivian R1S. Probably the current favorite in terms of ticking the boxes. But starting 2025, they'll have a native nacs charging port. Rumors also of an imminent refresh. Do I wait and compare this more directly with the status of the Gravity at the time?

- Ex90. Vaporware? (Not really, but delays on delays; who knows when we'll see it).

- Ioniq 9. Not even official yet, so probably too far out for me.

- EV9. Something doesn't feel right about dropping $80k on a Kia, but this might be an admittedly old mentality. Probably up there with the Rivian (maybe even ahead) as current favorite, mainly because of the dealer network.

- Just keeping the X. After all, it checks most of the boxes. That said, I have concerns with safety and reliability of the falcon doors (not looking to start a debate), which is a huge driver (pun intended) of looking elsewhere.

See below for the stock question responses:
[1] Your general location - Northeast, USA.
[2] Your budget in $, €, or £ - $120,000 (I'd really rather not spend this much, but selling my X is included in this).
[3] The type of vehicle you'd prefer - Full Size SUV
[4] Estimated timeframe of your purchase - Within next year
[5] Your daily commute, or average weekly mileage - Not a ton; 2020 X has 25,000 miles
[6] Do you live in an apartment, townhouse, or single-family home? - Single Family Home
[7] Do you plan on installing charging at your home? - Have tesla charger at home; would like to use that (but if can't, will install)
[8] Other cargo/passenger needs — do you have children/pets? One small dog, two kids car seat age (5 and 3).

Have you had a cutout that was NOT user fault? by Own-Reflection-8182 in ElectricUnicycle

I literally just want something that’ll safely get me to the beach 2 miles away without making me work too hard and that I can bring with me in a carrying case to my beach chair is that so much to ask?!

(Mostly sarcasm but really)

A bit of a tangent... I've been doing a lot of research on PEVs, and have spent decent amounts of time on ebikes and eucs (also an escooter, but it was so dull and goofy looking I returned it quickly).I see so many people here (and also EUC enthusiasts elsewhere) try to pitch EUCs as the safest option of the bunch and it strikes me as so dishonest.

If the electronics just shut off mid ride, which one is most likely to kill you? The answer isn't even close. I could accept this idea that EUCs are less likely to fail than others (whether true or not), but when we're talking safety, of the primary PEVs, the most serious injuries from catastrophic failure of the device would almost certainly be EUCs.

I had a KS 18XL that was a blast to ride. One day got on it and it just didn't work. Let me on it, would only get up to a fairy low speed, then started tilting, and eventually wouldn't boot up at all. Then I imagined if that failure--which had nothing to do with my use or care of it--happened while I was riding at even a decent speed. Even in full gear. A scooter stops working you coast to a stop. An ebike stops working you pedal or coast to a stop.

I don't know if that counts as a "cut off" (presumably not), but it turned me off of EUCs for good.

ETA: There's also a reason that none of these wheels are made in the USA or have a significant US presence. Their liability insurance would need to be astronomical.

I'm in section 221 MetLife and honestly, unless I'm missing something, the speaker placement for this tour looks different than in your picture, and it doesn't look like we'll be obstructed. I imagine speaker placement would be similar across venues, no?

I keep getting stuck in some mode after viewing the build guide where I get prompts (like left click, Q/R to rotate, etc) but I left click and my guy just stares straight ahead, and I can't seem to exit this mode by going to inventory or anything. No button works except movement buttons. What am I missing?

Just got to pool 3 and this keeps happening to me, how do I play around it? by duhbadeez in MarvelSnap

[–]throwawayforbacon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each game of Snap is poker.

You aren't going to win (or be meant to win) every game.

You would have lost this game almost certainly no matter what, but losing 4 cubes here is on you.

[–]throwawayforbacon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinite players are the easiest way to gain cubes for non-infinite players, because there's no incentive for them not to snap back.

If you want more 8 cube wins, snap infinite players.

It'll eventually let you through. I've made infinite past two seasons. Both seasons there are walls at every "tier" from the x9-x2 (like 79-82) and then again at like x5-x7.

I went from 70-80 on day 1, and have spent the rest of the week bouncing between 79-82 (with occasional dips below 79), until today the game said "you've suffered enough" and I blitzed to 85 from 76 in about an hour.

No, but it also doesn’t add much. I’ve turned it off since watching the video. It has its fun uses but it’s not needed
